Ashley Cole says that the Arsenal lads couldn’t stop talking about him going out with Cheryl Tweedy, he admits it became a running joke. When he thought at least the quieter ones would leave it alone, he says Dennis Bergkamp was one of the worst for it. When they were in the treatment room, Cole says Bergkamp would be lying back, reading a magazine like FHM or Loaded. When Cole was sat right there, Bergkamp would suddenly start making those over-the-top “mmmmmm” noises at a picture. When Cole looked over to see what he was doing, it would be Cheryl on the page. When Bergkamp clocked Cole watching him, he’d act surprised and go: “Sorry Ash, didn’t see you there!” When Cole says it was Bergkamp doing it that made it funnier, you can tell he wasn’t expecting that from him.
