We need Darche to cook here, realistically - no matter what our final results are... I do think the internal competition needs to be a bit greater. I don't see any prospect outside of Eklund making the full-time jump next season. #Isles

I’m told #Isles are in the mix for University of Michigan’s T.J Hughes, now a FA. Ironically, he’s from Hamilton, ON, where Bridgeport is relocating to. Hughes is a Hobey Baker Finalist.

The number can move tonight by anywhere from 1 to 5 because we can clinch the tiebreaker over PHI. Tiebreaker is clinched if we win in reg. or PHI does not. Scenarios attached, they are divided by the result of our game. We play at 6:45 while the other big games are at 7:00.

—Win against Ottawa in regulation Saturday afternoon
—Have Ottawa lose one game to either FLA, NJ or TOR.
OR
—Philadelphia to lose 2 games, one of them in regulation.
AND, they need to go 4-0-0 themselves.

All I want to hear from Darche is “the team was playing well I attempted to improve it, it didn’t work out. That’s on me” There has to be a mea culpa. I don’t buy this win now vs win later BS. That can change by the year. He either can make the right moves or he can’t. #isles

I’d just like to point out that Barzal does play a small role in how things transpired: -Decision against OTT cost them a point -His decision with the puck led to PHI’s first goal on Friday -His no-look pass in the o-zone led to CAR’s first goal on Saturday

Thoughts on Mathieu Darche’s press conference:
I like that he acknowledged the goaltender covered for his team defensively a lot. However, his Trade Deadline approach doesn’t show that.
I felt the hope he has to save this season. I hope we get the scoreboard luck we need #Isles
