Georges Unite. A polite and polished West Coast IPA with the power of two Georges: Fort George and Georgetown. Part Lucille, part Vortex, Vorcille is a bright, peachy, balanced West Coast IPA from your friends at Fort George and @GeorgetownBeer in Seattle. If the return of Vortex Month this April has you looking for another star-studded collaboration by the Northwest’s two favorite Georges - you’re in luck. Vorcille releases at the Pubs this Saturday, making its way to your favorite PNW beer stops later this week. 4-packs and cases ship direct to your door in Oregon at the link in bio.

Tires with 11,000 miles and a nail. Firestone told me they are not repairable. Firestone said this is not repairable because of the location and that I would need a new tire. It's a slow leak, about 1-2 psi a day. I am in disbelief that this is not repairable.. Can I not just get a fix kit? 🤧

It’s not forced savings. It’s forced insurance. Insurance with terrible benefits. Imagine a person who pays in for 30 - 40 years, then dies a few years after starting to collect. They got a few years of distributions at a massive cost. And it doesn’t work the “other way”. You can only lose. Unless you live to 160 years old. I would gladly have opted out and put the same amount I am taxed into a personally directed retirement account, the balance of which grows and belongs to me and my heirs upon death.

@conorjrogers The idea of SS is that it's enforced savings.. for you. You pay in, you get out. Do you want to raise the max payout for these high earners too?

One of the most radicalizing moments of my life was when I learned that they just stop collecting social security taxes on money earned over like $150K. Like you just suddenly keep 3-6% more money on all money over that threshold.
Fuck You I Quit@fuckyouiquit

Every dollar earned below $184,500 a year has a Social Security tax of 12.4%. Everything after that cap is exempt. If we lift this cap on the wealthiest earners, Social Security would be fully funded till 2070. The cap should not exist.

PPS (AND many other school districts) have increased staff that do not ever interact with students. These staff can be found in -District Offices -TOSA’ (teacher on special assignment) -Entitlement Programs (Healthcare, housing, food etc) includes special programs for immigrants, unaccompanied minors. -Administration staff who specialize in political issues and use district resources to support and advocate for these policies locally and statewide. These staff are not cut and so class sizes grow and students get less. Don’t fall for more money 💰 for public schools-instead call your school board and start asking for cuts in staff who do not interface directly with students.

We operate about 500 homes in Tacoma. These kinds of rules are great for us- they cost us little as our compliance is largely automated. They will drive out any remaining potential new housing projects from the City, ensuring that supply doesn’t expand and rents go up.

The Oregon legislature had a chance to reform the state’s "worst-in-the-nation" death tax. Instead, they tried to make it worse. Voters may get the final say through Initiative Petition 51, which would end Oregon’s estate tax entirely.

@archeohistories @vjeannek I remember these events well. The cult members all wore a shade of violet or red and gave their money to the Bagwhan. The goal was for him to have one Rolls Royce for each day of the year. I don’t remember how many he ended up acquiring.

In 1984, a cult carried out the largest biological attack in U.S. history by spreading salmonella on food and doorknobs in a town in Oregon. The goal was to make people too sick to vote so the cult could win a local election and take control of the town. To do this, commune leaders contaminated salad bars at ten restaurants in The Dalles with Salmonella enterica Typhimurium. The attack sickened 751 people and hospitalized 45, but fortunately caused no deaths. The idea was to make enough residents too ill to vote so that Rajneeshee-backed candidates, supported by newly registered outsiders, could take over the local government. Instead, the attack sparked outrage and mobilized the community to vote against them in greater numbers. It also drew national attention to the vulnerabilities of public health and the dangers posed by fringe groups willing to use dangerous tactics for political gain. Investigators from the Oregon Public Health Division and the CDC traced the outbreak to the Rajneeshee commune. In 1985, two senior leaders, Ma Anand Sheela (the group’s spokesperson and close aide to guru Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh) and Ma Anand Puja, were indicted for their roles in the attack. Sheela and Puja both fled to Europe but were arrested in West Germany in 1986 and extradited to the U.S. They pleaded guilty to charges related to the bioterrorism plot and to separate crimes involving wiretapping and attempted murder within the commune. Sheela served about 29 months in federal prison; Puja served about two years. The Rajneeshee movement itself rapidly collapsed in Oregon soon after. Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh was arrested on immigration charges, deported, and eventually returned to India. The ranch was abandoned, and the group never regained the political or social foothold it had sought in the U.S. © Reddit #archaeohistories

@Cribdilla I was an analyst at Clarion in the 90s and we used the term “gain to lease”. It’s not a new term. It’s more important, imo, than loss to lease. You cap above market rents and you over pay.

Had to look up the meaning of “gain to lease” Above market leases have existed (and been a problem) since real estate became a thing. Why do we constantly need to invent new ways of saying the same thing.

Oregon ranks 47th in education and dead last (50th) in 4th-grade reading and math — that’s a full-blown emergency. On Day 1, I will declare a state of emergency for our schools. Mississippi went from 47th to 1st in reading simply by getting back to the science of reading and phonics. We can do the same here. My entire family are educators; this is personal. Our kids deserve world-class schools, not excuses. opb.org/article/2026/0…
