Jerome Powell: "If you look at total core inflation, it's about 3%. Some big chunk of that, around 1/2 or 3/4, is actually tariffs."

In a sudden turn of events, US 12-month inflation expectations have surged to 5.2%, the highest level since March 2023. In just 3 weeks, markets have gone from pricing-in rate cuts to rate hikes.

Bluer areas of Virginia are picking-up voting: As of Monday, votes cast in the 5-GOP held districts were 60% of all votes cast so far (vs 40% in 6 Dem-held districts). As of today, gap shrunk to 55% to 45%. Most of votes cast since Monday came in the Dem-held districts.

@fawfulfan This is so laughably false. Polls overestimated Dems in 2020, 2022, AND in 2024. Three cycles in a row where they have overestimated Dems. And Beto led in several polls in 2018.

BREAKING: Rep. DeGette gets heated with a constituent pressing her on why she voted to send bombs to Israel: "If this the only issue that you care about is this issue, then you should not vote for me" DeGette, who's 68, is facing a primary challenge from @MelatKirosCO.

I think, at this point, we are on track to see that the electorate in the 2026 Virginia redistricting constitutional amendment election will be redder than in 2025. It is a question of how redder it will be and whether Republicans can do better at persuasion than in 2025 VA-AG.

This was neat: Researchers traced a tariff on $5 European wines into the U.S. to see who paid it. The tariff itself was $1.19, producers paid $0.26 and importers took a $0.44 cut, but retailers used the tariff as an excuse to add a $1.10 margin. The price went up $1.59 (~32%):

For anyone wondering who this 0.07% Junta is (How do I know, cos I once had this random urge to travel to North Korea & ended up doing a deep dive): The 0.07% are almost never "No" votes. In North Korean elections, you do not tick a box; you take a printed ballot with 1 name on it & drop it in a box in an open room. To vote No, you have to go to a separate secret booth & cross the name out with a red pen while being watched by security. These are people who are physically unable to reach the box. We are talking about citizens working on deep-sea fishing vessels, laborers in Siberian logging camps/those who died in the 48 hrs leading up to the vote but had not been processed out of the local registry yet.

JUST IN: 🇰🇵 Kim Jong Un wins North Korea's parliamentary election with 99.93% of the vote.
