@vjgirardi3 @ByPatForde Most refs will blow their whistles immediately after a made basket to ensure the inbounding team has the correct amount of time left to make a play. If it allows a "timeout" while the refs review the monitor, so be it. Having the correct time on the clock is most important.

@Dahoopref @ByPatForde Do refs ever let teams inbound the ball in those situations anymore? What if NCSU didn’t have a timeout? It grants them a free one

@KnoxLightGuy @RefObserver17 As long as none of the officials blew their whistle prior, that would definitely make it an easier case for a T as the player off the bench interfered with play on the court.

@RefObserver17 Smart play would have been to inbounded the ball immediately and throw it off of the bench player who was on the court.

@MuggsyNycz @RefObserver17 A tech would be warranted if the St Louis player attempt to inbound the ball immediately after the made score. The C comes in stopping all play before the attempted inbound maybe to correct the clock. No possiblity T for too many players on the court.

@RefObserver17 I get the circumstances, BUT there needed to be a T there. Officials as a society NEED to get it stressed to high school kids who are watching the college kids that leaving the bench during live play can’t be tolerated and should be checked with appropriate consequences.

@OneTrueAggie @ChrisElloSD The MWC is in the consortium with the Big 10. They are not in the consortium with the other conferences you listed; those are associated with the Big 12.

MWC officials simply allow for no flow to a game…in Friday’s 4 QF games, refs whistled a total of 173 fouls (43.25 per game). The Big 10 (122 fouls in 4 games), Big East (130), Big 12 (137), ACC (138) and SEC (147) called an average of 33.7 fouls per game. Ten fewer…Not good.

@royharward @AyersRefTracker The C helps on press coverage, closing down for an angle, and is officiating the defensive double team for illegal contact. Looking for contact above the waist, the C misses the illegal move of the pivot foot for the violation. It is a NCI for the travel but understandable IMO.

@RefObserver17 Putting myself in the C on press help coverage, I would be looking for possible contact on the double team. That is the "elephant" and the pivot foot is the "ant." It is a missed travel but I understand why.

Will be curious to see where Roger lands today. The MVC title game would make sense, but a 12 ET tip halfway across the country after working a night game yesterday feels tough. 1 of the CAA quarterfinal games in DC is possible. Also, there’s 5 American conf games today too.

@RefObserver17 JH did himself no favors putting these 3 together. They need a true Crew Chief on this game that both coaches respect. Sadly to say, there was not.

@walkeri141 @AyersRefTracker We have a closed look to the play. If the defender knocked the ball out of the inbounders hands (which it looks like to me), it's a Class-B T. If it was passed, then I agree with delay of game if this was the 1st time

@Dahoopref @AyersRefTracker The teammate is not outside the boundary line though, Rule 7-4.6b is for throwing the ball to another thrower after a made basket yes? The status of the teammate receiving the ball is inbounds, as his feet are inbounds

This end-of-game sequence in Charleston/UNC Wilmington tonight was bizarre. I guess it was properly officiated with this delay of game call (?), but I need someone smarter than me to confirm. The whole thing was strange.
Brad Britton@bbritt237

New strategy! Up 1 with 1.9 left. CC inbounds ball. Their player stood just inbounds with his arms extended over baseline. Made pass to him and defender reached over line to deflect ball. Delay of game. CCdid same thing and UNCW alllowed pass-had to foul. A loophole in rules!!

@AyersRefTracker @walkeri141 NCAA Men's, Rule 10, Sec. 4, Art. 1(i) i. Reaching through the throw-in boundary-line plane and touching or dislodging the ball while it is in possession of the thrower or being passed to a teammate outside the boundary line as in Rule 7-4.6.b Class B Tech. Crew missed this.

@walkeri141 Agree, seems like a lot could go wrong there with a fumbled pass and then UNCW gets the ball on the baseline with a chance to win. If it was me, I’d scrap the gimmicks and inbounds the ball like a competent basketball team. And then we win the game.

@AyersRefTracker You can probably add 5 more "contests" to each of them for the exhibitions and scrimmages worked before the regular season started. Those preseason contests usually have full game fee.

4 referees have now worked 90+ games this season. And then there’s Kipp who’s in an entirely different competition from the rest of them. 1. Kissinger - 103 2. Ayers - 98 3. Sirmons - 96 4. Groover - 92 5. Potter - 89 6. Wells - 88 7. Kimble - 87 8. Armstrong, Padilla - 86
Roger Ayers Ref Tracker@AyersRefTracker

Let’s check out the updated list of most games worked in the country. Kipp is setting quite a pace, and Roger has separation too from the pack. 1. Kissinger - 80 2. Ayers - 77 3. Sirmons - 74 4. Wells - 73 5. Potter - 72 6. Groover - 70 7. Armstrong, Kimble, Padilla - 68

No Roger in St Louis. And of course Kipp is working it. Likely a night off for Roger. And probably makes it more likely than he is in DC tomorrow for Michigan/Duke given his location in Virginia last night.

@AyersRefTracker My question is why is Roger looking all the way up there as the L when it isn't his primary coverage area? The L & C officiate this area.

I had to go back and watch the controversial kick ball call from last night’s Houston/Iowa St game. Looks like Sirmons and Kipp both made the call at the same time (and Roger on the baseline didn’t blow his whistle but is making a kicking motion like he agrees with the call).
Alex Inman@alexinman

What’s weird about this play is that two (2) officials, both Trail and Center, had the same call. Which makes it a bizarre miss, and a great argument on behalf of NBA-style challenge system.

@RefObserver17 I agree. The C has a closed look and might've thought the ball was knocked out; not gonna guess. The T has the best look of the play if the L is officiating the defender's vertical space. Like you said, it happens.

@CIOMusings @SouthwestAir It happened to me this morning. I was in Group 5, row 6. When my group finally boarded, all the row 6 seats were empty but the overhead bins were full. I took a rollerbag down, put it in an empty row 7 seat, and put my rollerbag above my row 6 seat. FA had to move the other bag.
