While not supporting communism, the Catholic Church has always given criticism of the capitalistic system as well (although not condemning all of it outright). Below are newspaper highlights from the 1931 encyclical of Pope Pius XI "Quadragesimo Anno", which promoted a "corporatist" social order as an alternative to both capitalism and socialism. HIGH LIGHTS OF THE ADDRESS Vatican City, May 15—[UP]—Significant phrases from the new pronouncement of the Pope on labor follow: “It is absolutely necessary to reconstruct the whole economic system by bringing it back to the requirements of social justice so as to ensure more equitable distribution of the united profits of capital and labor.” “The differences in social conditions of the human family which have been wisely decreed by the Creator, must not and cannot ever be abolished, but on the other hand, the condition of the proletariat cannot forever be the normal condition of the bulk of mankind.” “Wages must be such as to satisfy the legitimate requirements of the honest workman, not only for his person but for his family.” “Work is not any kind of saleable commodity but one wherein the human dignity of the workingman must always be respected.” “All opposition between classes must cease.” “Free and unbridled competition has been succeeded by an exaggerated concentration in the hands of a few of the whole economic power, not only of a single nation but of the entire world. Nothing the Pope is saying is actually woke, by the way. It’s all in line with boilerplate Catholic Social Teaching that’s been in practice since at least the 19th century. American Christianity, including Catholicism, has just gone so completely off the rails it sounds radical.

I agree and people wonder why i chose to give up on all denominations and practice Christianity as a solitary life. I still meet with people and council them, study the bible with people. Mostly those that have not been exposed to the faith much. But i have to say i like this Pope. Nah i wont become Catholic but i feel like this is Pope Catholics have needed for decades.

Can anyone recommend a Protestant podcaster who offers an apologia of our theology against Catholic theology who is a clear creationist—six days, global flood?
I know there are some who do this who are local flood, symbolic creation type of people and I’m not interested in them. If it’s someone, for example, who would promote Biologos and Francis Collins or work with Biologos, I don’t want that guy.

As I said, this was a disaster for the Vatican. That’s why they felt the need to do damage control. Leo was elected to placate American Catholics, who are the only large prosperous western population the church has left, but who are also restless and chafing at various stances the church hierarchy has taken in recent years. The last thing the church wants is for the situation to become politicized. They mean for Leo to be a moderating force who smooths over divisions and seeks to prevent backlash to Francis’s leftist turn. Democrats as usual fail to understand America, especially America’s faithful.
