@KnowerOfBans At the end of the game you need him to do the musah thing and grind to find gaps to relieve pressure till the defense eventually loses the will to keep running…possession needs to go up with the subs. But it’s becoming a giving away of the ball.

Our ability to hold possession and stretch Australia has dropped drastically with Berhalter, Trusty, and Scally. A little scary the depth outside of our starting 11….😳

@JakeEntwistle This is how you get the most from having a player who doesn’t have a weak foot like Dest. If he were willing to go down on contact he could be drawing penalties at will.

I don’t think I’ll articulate this very well but I really like the McKennie x Dest combo on the right because it’s fast, direct, vertical with ‘slow’, measured, technical. McKennie accelerates with underlaps, Dest resets by stopping and then manipulating with a dribble etc.

@tha_Real_Kumar Mckennie has played deep in one game in the last 4 years in a loss vs Canada. Its a mistake that GGG and Poch only made once (GGG was pre 2022 against Japan), his skills don't fit in the middle of the field. Hes final third player, highest avg postition on the field most games.

some folks including myself wanted to see McKennie deeper for a while but Poch got it very right committing to him in free advanced role #USMNT

@CoachRooney16 @TheBolivianYank They couldn't afford him and xavi wanted guys that say wide and don't invert so they went with balde who cost 1/6 the price. He would be a good fit with their current coach..Xavi talking badly about him made a lot of fans not understand his value, he would be perfect under flick

@ItsClassified_1 @KnowerOfBans To me, this is putting the problem in the wrong place. This generation can be disappointing because football players pick up injuries. We are not at the point where we have a depth of talent that transcends that problem. We have a pretty significant talent gap after the top.

@KnowerOfBans Part of the reason why this specific generation has been very disappointing & underwhelming. Everybody is always dealing with a injury during the most important matches. Same old shit.

@DCDOTC @avluey @Eyesandvibes yeah, they are also both really active in the press and winning the ball back...easiest way to create holes is winning the ball back quickly and putting the defense under pressure for 90 min...its brutal to play that way and with patience the holes will make themselves

@DanielC_27_ @avluey @Eyesandvibes It makes sense--Pepi's actually a pretty good grappler and the AUS CBs are big dudes. Balo / Pepi is a pretty good combination in that context.

@DCDOTC @avluey @Eyesandvibes yeah, i mean I think Pepi doesn't give you the quick movement you get with Gio but adds other threats. There should be a lot of switching between all the attackers, switch positions, the quality is high. Only concern is Wes plays like a striker too so thats a lot of strikers...

@bob_morocco yeah...if they shift...push back dest for a sec and put Freeman toward the back post...If they shift to match numbers...we make them shift all day...until that lane appears...win the ball back...put them under pressure for 90 min...patience and the path comes
