For the 10th year in a row, I’ll be trying to raise some money for Movember. I’ve raised £2,694 in that time. Most of it came when doing a 62km walk to my dad’s grave last year. I’ve been scared about matching that feat. This year, I’m running at least 3km every day.

Player Translation between leagues has really fascinated me recently, partly due to reading Ian Graham's book, How to Win the Premier League. So I've begun building my own models, demonstrated here by Luciano Valente.

Models like these can be endlessly developed and iterated, with a huge number of variables that can be worked in. For me, I'll look to build a 'Player Replacement' branch, where we look specifically at how a player would be able to replace another in the target team.

@olekorslund They had Lang ready and then he put a bib back on so I don’t know. Either why, whoever’s fault, he shouldn’t have been on that pitch.

@JakeEntwistle Honestly looked like he was trying to get off since the injury happened, looked more like he was forced to play on by the staff, when he talked to the bench. that arm moved like rubber after impact, so most likely broken.

Galatasaray are playing with 10 men. That wrist injury has neutralised Osimhen. Everything he gives you has disappeared because he’s petrified of snapping it. Needs to come off.

@HsojDragnub Think it’s when they’re not at the stadium or something. Then they can’t sync up the audio and video or something.

Is the commentary ahead of the game on TNT? Feels like they are a second ahead and calling things as they are about to happen.

Newcastle’s tank just emptied and now they cannot do anything. The volatility of Howe’s approach. I’m not saying it was right or wrong, but this is why Newcastle struggle for consistency. Next year, if they don’t have Europe, they will be challenging at the top.

Newcastle took advantage of that Barcelona line so so so well then. All the players in the middle offside but Lewis Hall coming from deep with a one-two just obliterates it.

@pranav_m28 Just being able to have a label attached to a player is useful. The Bruno example already fits with and matches the eye test so that’s a good sign. As you said, combos of different personalities in different phases can build more profiles. Would be interested to see Rogers.

@JakeEntwistle Yessss! Jake seal of approval. Thanks a lot. I am looking for suggestions to include more context and other stuff into this. Game states could be one. Feel free to give me more as I think this really has potential to be more contextualised and useful.

More fantastic work. Another important factor when building profiles and player roles.

🔴Introducing Tempo Control Profiles We often talk about tempo when talking about football. We talk about players who SET the tempo, players who CONTROL it or players who RAISE it. So I decided to quantify it, visualise the actions and develop a classification system using data. It divides the players into three main categories: 1. Tempo Catalyst - players who speed up the tempo 2. Tempo Conductor - players who maintain the tempo and have a right balance of slowing it down as well as increasing it 3. Tempo Settler - players who recycle more often, like to inject less The framework has two main aspects: Injections and Resets. In simple terms, I look at the time gap between actions, compare the action to the recent rhythm of the sequence, and then judge whether it speeds the move up or slows it down. From there, I add territorial context as well, so quicker actions that also move the ball into more dangerous zones carry more value than quick actions with little tactical impact. Here is Bruno's Tempo Control Profile. He falls under the Tempo Catalyst profile. Not surprising given how good he is at releasing quick incisive passes. Decent number of tempo increasing carries as well. You can request for similar maps, specific lists and even drop suggestions and methods of improvement. I will share more results and try to improve this over the coming days.

Theme of this Morocco story was that despite not winning AFCON, the work done to get there was built on strong foundations; it would not take another 22 years to reach the final. The fallout and this latest decision sours everything. scoutedftbl.com/tiwizi-dreams-…

12 - Arsenal registered 12 shots on target against Leverkusen tonight, their highest tally in a single match across all competitions this season. It is also only the second time the Gunners have scored twice from outside the box in a UCL knockout tie, after doing so against Real Madrid in 2024/25. Range. @Arsenal

Asked Arteta about Eberechi Eze's notable improvements defensively, more on which later. He seemed very clear that he'd wanted that and was pleased with what he has been seeing. "Without it, you have no chance of playing in this team."
