No. The Commander -In- Chief, in his authority is the highest ranking member. Some people will be surprised by this answer and that is because you didn’t say Nigerian Army, but Nigerian Military 🫢 Yes, in his ceremonial capacity, the President is the highest ranking military position as C in C.

@GeehadiJohn @Verydakman_ I agree. Public institutions are a case study in touting, slothfulness and shameless solicitations for tips. If you don't dance to their tune, you will wait endlessly.

🚨🗣️ A retired senior police officer reportedly tried clinging to his former office after leaving service, only to be met with stiff resistance from junior officers who felt he had not treated them fairly while in authority. Despite his retirement, he allegedly continued showing up, even though the incoming officer hadn’t resumed. But the message from his former subordinates was blunt retirement isn’t a suggestion it’s a full stop. What played out reads less like protocol and more like unfinished business catching up. In the end, authority faded the moment the uniform did. In Nigeria’s version of “retire but not tired,” reality had other plans.

@Rise_Forge C. In the past 27 years, we have had Admirals Ogohi and Ola Ibrahim from the Navy. From the Airforce, we have had Air Chief Marshalls Alex Badeh, Oluseyi Pentirin and Paul Dike in that role.

"I did my job to the best of my ability. I am just thankful to God. It's been a very, very arduous and long, almost 11-year journey. It has been traumatic, not just for me, but for my family, my friends, and all those who have stayed and supported me. For my 93-year-old mother in Port Harcourt, for my son, and for all those who love us, it has been a hard journey. But I tell you this: God will always do as God wills, and God will be God." — Diezani Alison-Madueke, reacting to the UK court judgment exonerating her of bribery charges

GOVERNOR ODODO BRIEFS NSA ON ELIMINATION OF TERRORIST KINGPIN BATTIJO, HAILS TINUBU'S SECURITY LEADERSHIP Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, on Monday visited the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, to formally brief him on the successful operation that led to the elimination of notorious terrorist and bandit kingpin, Kachalla Ibrahim Battijo, in Kogi State. During the meeting, Governor Ododo gave a detailed account of the intelligence-driven operation that culminated in the neutralization of the criminal leader, describing it as a product of effective collaboration among federal security agencies, local security structures and the Kogi State Government. The Governor disclosed that highly sophisticated intelligence assets were deployed to monitor the movements and activities of Battijo and his gang, leading to the discovery of their plot to attack and abduct students writing the ongoing West African Senior School Certificate Examination at Government Secondary School, Iluke, in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area. Acting swiftly on credible intelligence, the Kogi State Government relocated the students from a vulnerable location to the heart of Iluke town to guarantee their safety while they continued their examinations. Despite the proactive intervention by government and security agencies, Battijo and his gang launched an attack on the community in a desperate bid to execute their criminal mission. However, troops of the Nigerian military, working in synergy with other security agencies, the Kogi State Vigilante Service and local hunters, successfully repelled the attack. In the fierce gun battle that followed, the notorious bandit kingpin was neutralized, while his criminal network suffered devastating losses. The operation against the terrorist network did not end with the elimination of Battijo. In a follow-up clearance mission, troops of the Nigerian Army led by the Commander, 12 Brigade, Brigadier General Karim Sidi, successfully exhumed the remains of the slain terrorist leader for further examination and intelligence purposes. The operation also led to the neutralization of additional members of Battijo's gang who had been hiding around the area following the initial encounter. Security forces had earlier recovered more than fifteen bodies of bandits during clearance operations, underscoring the scale of the victory recorded against the criminal group and confirming the operation as a comprehensive success. Governor Ododo expressed profound appreciation to the National Security Adviser, the Service Chiefs, the Inspector General of Police and the Director-General of the Department of State Services, for their support and for the gallantry displayed by officers and men deployed to Kogi State. He particularly commended the courage, patriotism and sacrifice of personnel of the Kogi State Vigilante Service and the Hunters Group, whose local knowledge and commitment contributed significantly to the success of the operation. The Governor also expressed profound appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his unwavering commitment to strengthening Nigeria's security architecture and providing the leadership required to confront terrorism, banditry and other security threats across the country. According to the Governor, the successful elimination of Battijo and the sustained gains being recorded against criminal elements across the nation are clear indications that President Tinubu's security initiatives are yielding measurable results. He called on Nigerians to continue supporting the President and the nation's security institutions, stressing that collective resolve remains essential to making terrorism, banditry and violent criminality relics of the past. Governor Ododo assured the National Security Adviser that the elimination of Battijo has further strengthened public confidence in the state's security architecture and reinforced the determination of .......

I did this same post on my Facebook handle some 15 years ago: Let me bring it here on X: Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola, the Premier of the Western Region, used a British-made Sten submachine gun to defend himself and his family when coup plotters stormed his official residence in Ibadan. The details of Akintola's armament and defense during the 1966 Nigerian coup d'état include the following: The Weapon: The Sten gun was a widely used 9mm submachine gun in the mid-20th century. The Nigeria Army stocked them as well. During his target practices, it was one of the primary weapons Akintola familiarized himself with for protection during periods of rising political tension. The Training: Akintola's target practice was reportedly tutored by Lt. Col. Abogo Largema while Largema was the commanding officer in Ibadan. (Largema was also killed during the same coup at a hotel in Lagos). The Shootout: When coup plotters led by Captain Emmanuel Nwobosi stormed the Premier's residence in the early hours of January 15, 1966, Akintola mounted a gallant defense. He fired back at the intruders using his Sten rifle, engaging in a gunfight that delayed the plotters for several hours. The Final Moments: Despite his resistance, he eventually ran out of ammunition. The soldiers ultimately overwhelmed the house, and he was taken out. Now You Know
