I was invited to the @UN to talk about Iran, especially about athletes and the current situation in Iran. I spoke to more than 4,000 students from around the world. I told them about Iran and about all the limitations that women and girls face there. I talked about the courage of students in Iran and about a regime that kills students. I told them that in my country the new generation is changing everything, but they are paying for it with their lives. While I was speaking, my mind was constantly thinking about Nika, Sarina, Raha, Abolfazl, Kian and the many students who were killed. I was just trying to control myself so I wouldn’t start crying. I also told them how meaningful it is that students from different countries, at such a young age, have the opportunity to come to New York and sit together at the United Nations, meet each other, learn together, and also enjoy many cultural and recreational programs. I told them the stories of Arnika and Rebin & … After the event, the organizers told me it was the first time they had seen students listening so carefully and with so much attention. Some of the students were even crying. I told them that one day, when Iran is free, we will organize an event like this in Iran with students from all over the world, and we will host them there. Some of them told me, “When that day comes, we will bring flowers for the students who were killed and we will honor their memory.”💔 I had the honor of meeting @heraskevych, the Ukrainian Olympic champion, who chose not to remain silent and used his platform as an athlete to be a voice for the people of his country. It's already illegal to vote if you're not a citizen. They're trying to convince us there are droves of people who are willing to risk deportation and the abuse that we are seeing from ICE to vote illegally. It defies credulity and it's simply not true.

I saw various signs yesterday which said "fight fascism" and "no war with Iran", and the sign-bearers don't seem to grasp that the war with Iran *is* fighting fascism.

“Some were also showing support for Prince Reza Pahlavi.” Since the rally was for Reza Pahlavi, I'm going to go out of a limb and say it wasn't just 'some'. Furthermore, the Iranian diaspora is not 150 people living outside of Iran with a niche view. There are around 5 million Iranians abroad, that directly reflect sentiments inside Iran. This was evident in early January, when millions of Iranians chanted for Reza Pahlavi and 40,000 died for it.
