Muhammad Was Not a Good Man: The Ugly Reality Behind Islam’s Founder Muhammad wasn’t a humble spiritual reformer. He was a 7th-century warlord and conman who used claimed “revelations” to gain power, wealth, sex, and control. He married a wealthy older widow (Khadija), who funded his early life and reassured him after his first panicked “vision.” Then, as an illiterate man in an oral society, he dictated convenient “divine” messages to scribes—messages that increasingly justified his actions as he shifted from persecuted preacher in Mecca to ruler in Medina. The worst part? He married Aisha at 6 and had sex with her at 9 (Sahih Bukhari 5134, Sahih Muslim). He was over 50. Traditional sources record this plainly. Modern defenders twist themselves into knots saying “it was normal” or “she was older.” It wasn’t normal by any decent moral standard—it’s child rape, plain and simple, and it set a precedent still harming girls today. Quran 33:50 gives him special permission for unlimited wives, captives from war, and any woman who “offers herself”—rules that didn’t apply to his followers. Revelations conveniently solved his household problems and expanded his privileges. He led or ordered dozens of raids and battles, assassinated poets and critics who mocked him (Ka’b ibn al-Ashraf, Asma bint Marwan), massacred surrendered tribes (Banu Qurayza), and distributed war spoils—including women and children—to build loyalty. This wasn’t “defending the faith.” It was conquest and power consolidation dressed up as God’s will. Islam didn’t start as “just faith.” It was a political ideology from Medina onward: prophet = ruler, religion = law and state, obedience to Muhammad = divine command. He preyed on the vulnerable, rewarded fighters with loot and sex, and eliminated dissent with the sword or assassination. History is full of such men—charismatic opportunists who claim divine backing to twist rules for their ego, desires, and control. Muhammad succeeded spectacularly. That doesn’t make him good. It makes him dangerous. Examine the sources yourself: Bukhari, Muslim, Ibn Ishaq’s Sira. The whitewashing only works if you ignore what they actually say.
