Several days ago, I argued that Brexit is, to a large extent, responsible for the UK's political and social crisis. Many Brits challenged me rather aggressively. Fair enough. At the time, it was largely my instinct as an economist and data scientist rather than a conclusion backed by a deep review of the evidence. So I went and read the literature. Study after study reaches the same conclusion: Brexit imposed a substantial economic cost on the UK. Sometimes one chart tells the whole story. Real GDP per capita since 2016 shows the UK dramatically underperforming both the Eurozone and the United States. I'm now convinced I was right. And yes, I believe Brexit will one day be remembered as one of the most successful KGB operations in history. The genius of it wasn't making Britain stronger. It was convincing Britain to weaken itself.

10 years on, Britain has been left poorer and worse off. The only winner? Nigel Farage and his friends. Time to go back into the single market and customs union and unleash the full potential of the United Kingdom 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🇪🇺

10 years on from the Brexit referendum, the UK is poorer, weaker, and more isolated. We need to stop digging ourselves into a deeper hole and begin rebuilding our relationship with Europe by rejoining the Single Market.

Ten years ago today Britain voted by a narrow majority (51.9%) to leave the European Union. Most Brits living in other EU countries couldn’t vote. The Leave campaign featured a pack of lies and promises that did not materialise. Today, a growing majority want to the EU again

We’ve heard many reasons from Russians about why the war started: NATO, Nazis in Ukraine, biolabs, etc. But this one is new. According to Sergey Karaganov, the US provoked this war so that Europe and Russia wouldn’t unite. That said, even Karaganov believes it’s time to end it.

@joseph_ben_yah @mog_russEN It's not really changed much since the end of 2022, Russia peaked at 27%, Ukraine took back 8%. It's just been back and forth since then and remains around 19% now.

JUST IN.. THE GAUNTLET IS THROWN | 🚨 Putin drops a massive peace ultimatum, effectively telling NATO and Ukraine: "Accept the new borders, or we keep marching." Here is what the Russian President just laid out: - Russia is ready for talks based on the 2022 Istanbul draft—which Kiev’s delegation already signed and accepted before the West blocked it. - Putin explicitly demands that any future deal must recognize "the realities on the ground today." No going back. - Moscow is fully prepared for the long haul. "We will move forward resolutely in all directions, backed by our economic stability and newly reinforced Armed Forces." The Kremlin effectively tells Kiev and NATO: Accept the new borders, or the map keeps changing. 🇷🇺

I know Keir as a decent honourable leader who has at all times been determined to put the needs of the country first. Today we think also of the huge support given by Vic and their family and wish them all well in the future.

Keir Starmer’s place in history is assured. We owe Keir a debt of gratitude for taking Labour from its worst electoral defeat in 2019, bringing Labour back into government with a huge majority in 2024 and then guiding Britain through difficult times nationally and globally.

The BBC says it wants to orientate its News Channel to international rather than British audiences because it can generate revenues internationally. Fair enough. But why should British licence payers pay for it?

History’s Zero: Putin Rewrites the Past. Again The dictator has distorted the history of World War II, conveniently forgetting that in 1939 the Soviet Union occupied eastern Poland, annexed the Baltic states, attacked Finland, and helped pave the way for the deadliest conflict in human history through its secret deal with Hitler. The Molotov–Ribbentrop Pact and its secret protocol dividing Eastern Europe between two totalitarian powers eliminated Poland as a buffer state and removed Hitler’s fear of a two-front war. Just one week later, on September 1, Nazi Germany invaded Poland, triggering World War II. Moscow’s attempt to appease an aggressor while expanding its own empire ended in disaster. In 1941, Hitler turned on his Soviet partner, and the war Stalin believed he had postponed arrived at the gates of the USSR itself.

🥂 Any guesses what the old man is celebrating? Maybe the destruction of the railway bridge over the North Crimean Canal? As they say: no bridge, no cry 😏

BREAKING NEWS: Australian courts just ruled that this video cannot be used in the upcoming criminal trial of the Sydney jihadist nurses. Lawyers for the pair argued the nurses were recorded without their consent when they promised to kill Jewish patients. We are one of the most cucked nations in the world. Left leaning judges keep making decisions that give extraordinary latitude to criminals and jihadists. If this was Singapore they would have already been deported.
