I always wonder if a product decision was data driven or a gut call. The default time on a tweet I just scheduled was 2:25 am 5 days from now. No thank you. How are they making the decision to suggest that time? Does providing a default time increase tweet rate?

@JakeVF Only feedback is to focus on getting product fit before SEO optimization. Making your current users fanatics before bringing in more users may help future churn. If you truly solve someone’s problem you will get users, good SEO or not.

What does a first time founder do in his first month working on his startup? I don't have investors. So Twitter gets my monthly update to hold me accountable. I was travelling all of July and off completely 2 weeks. Taking some time to recharge after wrapping up work at Linktree was rejuvenating. Here's what I completed: Launched notifications Users get notifications (push and in-app) when their authors post a new chapter, and on comment likes and replies This is something I left out of launch I wanted to get out ASAP. 60% of logins enabled push notifications. ~50% of those users marked a notification as read (ie used a notification). I was pleasantly surprised with that! There's a ton of room for optimization here. I do a really hard prompt for push access. This should be redesigned in future, but I needed to shift focus to acquisition and away from retention. SEO / BLOG I redesigned my blog template, the blog page itself, added 1 article, all optimizing for a bunch of SEO tips I found on the internet. This was really my first time learning about SEO at all. Impressions are up 190% m/m, with it really taking off after 7/25. I know it's way too early to see results here, but glad I got started. DM'd Perfect Fit Authors My main marketing efforts are cold DMs. I've been reaching out to Patreon authors and letting them know about Cereal Reads. For 99% of them this will be there first time hearing about the product. There's a lot of network effects in writing which I've yet to achieve, so there's been the expected apprehension. Redesigned Landing Page Based on feedback from DM, there was some communication gaps on the landing page. I've learned a lot about designing a landing page, and coding one too, since I built the original page. I think the new page is 800% better, but don't have any metrics to prove that just yet. I do wish the updated page had been what I launched with. Reading sites are notoriously ugly. Readers and authors just endure it. Being at least respectable from a design perspective can actually set me apart. Other There are a bunch of other small wins in there. Mainly around meeting some personal goals on getting started tweeting and writing in public. August Priorities (purposely being a bit vague on these) - add a brand new feature that I think will be a top selling point - build reader onboarding resources to improve activation - build a new marketing program to onboard early access authors So how did I do board? @juancarlostech Adobe Premiere Pro for video editing. And Label Studio and CVAT for the labeling/annotations. CVAT had MacOS compatibility issues for its Segment Anything plugin so that was additional pain.
