(44 year old Alexis Hill, a beloved Dollar General store manager and mother of three, was tatally shot by a customer at a store on Victory Drive in Columbus, Georgia. According to the Muscogee County Coroner’s Office, the senseless attack occurred over a routine $1.58 transaction for hamburger buns. when the customer handed Hill two crumpled one dollar bills, she began straightening the cash out, prompting the suspect to step to the side, pull out a firearm, and shoot her. The gunman, identified as 33 year old Jerome Marquis Willis, fled the scene but was quickly tracked down by law enforcement to a nearby parking lot on Baker Plaza Drive. After refusing verbal commands, Willis opened fire on the responding authorities, injuring a Columbus police officer and a K-9 named Havoc, before officers returned fire resulting in the death of the suspect at the scene.
