Sarah-Marie has popped over with some Echo falls. So this is what I'm going to be angry about this weekend:- 1) Ramada celebrations in Trafalgar Square . They covered up Nelson so not to offend 2) Sadiq Khan 3) Moaning students in Kent 4) Allantollers 5) Sadiq Khan

This is not geopolitics anymore. This is a wounded man. Think about what just happened. Europe said no. Clearly, collectively, without apology. And Trump’s response wasn’t a strategy. It wasn’t a counter-move. It was: fine, I trust Putin more than any of you. That’s not a foreign policy position. That’s a 80-year-old man telling his friends he’s replacing them with someone who actually appreciates him. The European middle finger landed. It landed hard. And instead of absorbing it and recalibrating, he ran straight to the one man on earth who will always tell him what he wants to hear – because Putin needs him more than Europe does. Europe doesn’t need Trump. That’s the thing he can’t process. The continent that he expected to grovel is rearming, realigning, and moving on. No drama. No late night posts. Just a quiet, continental shrug. And it is destroying him from the inside. The man who needs to be loved more than he needs to be right just found out that 450 million Europeans have collectively decided he isn’t worth the energy. Europe didn’t even raise its voice. It just turned around and walked away. That’s the part that keeps him up at night 🍿😜

Lord Ashcroft ought to know better. Thatcher effectively sold off our oil to the likes of BP. Any oil drilled will be sold to highest bidder on international markets. The oil won't be Britain's so fuel prices would continue to be governed by international market prices.
Lord Ashcroft@LordAshcroft

Of course we should be capturing more oil from the North Sea and commence fracking. As a first move and in the national interest rather than pandering at any cost to attaining net zero a first step would be to replace Ed Miliband…

So if opening the Strait of Hormuz is a "simple military maneuver", that would be "easy for them to do with so little risk", why is Trump begging for NATO countries to do it? If it's so risk free, surely the US Navy can do it? @POTUS @SecWar @SecRubio @VP

"the majority of Trump supporters back strikes in Iran" Maybe, but I think the problem is the number of people calling themselves Trump supporters is now way down on the number before the war started. All of this polling seems to be designed to deliver a particular narrative, not the truth. It's propaganda in other words.

As I’ve said repeatedly, Americans trust President Trump as their Commander-in-Chief and support his efforts to eliminate terrorist threats and keep us safe. There is no “MAGA fracturing,” no matter how many times the media tries to claim otherwise.

Karoline Leavitt on MAGA: I would remind people X is not real life. Trump lives in the real world. There is nothing more America First than taking out terrorists who have maimed and killed our servicemen and women.

@PressSec Karoline, spot on as always! 🔥 Americans stand strong behind President Trump and his decisive action against terrorists – no fracturing here, just unity and America First energy. Keep shutting down the fake narratives, you're killing it! 🙌🇺🇸

The US would also lose all of its forward bases in Europe overnight. In order to maintain some sort of European presence it would need to keep a couple of carrier fleets (at least) permanently at sea (in international waters of course - you'd no longer be allies!).

If the US walks away from NATO it will need to increase its annual defence spending by over 50% in order to maintain the same level of defensive ability that it has as a member. That's over £500 billion a year! Do Yanks think absolutely nothing through before pushing the button?

@fdumbshiz31882 @RpsAgainstTrump I put attack in caps to emphasis the purpose of NATO. It is a defensive alliance. It is not there for a madman to call upon to help him wage an illegal war. I suggest you widen your intake of 'knowledge' beyond Fox News.

@fdumbshiz31882 @RpsAgainstTrump It's also worth reminding you that in it's 76 year history only one country has ever triggered NATO Article 5 compelling all members to come to the aid of the member being ATTACKED. - the US. When that happened every member state contributed forces that stood and sometimes died.

@fdumbshiz31882 @RpsAgainstTrump The only money NATO costs you (of any significance) is the money the US spends building ships, tanks, missiles, planes etc and manning its armed forces with the primary objective of defending the US. Leaving NATO could well see the US increase defence spend!

@wydyama Much prefer a manual 'box on England's windy roads. I get more control of the car. I've had two auto box cars since passing my driving test 50 years ago - didn't like either. In the States an auto box makes sense and every hire car I've had has had one. Horses for courses.

@LindseyGrahamSC A deal with Iran was close but I suspect Witkoff and Krushner quite simply didn't understand what was offered them. Trump wouldn't have done either. Ignorance and stupidity led Trump to strike.

I appreciate the recent joint statement by the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Japan reinforcing their condemnation of Iran’s outrageous behavior, and its interference with freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, viciously attacking energy infrastructure and shipping vessels. It is imperative that we forever end the ability of the Iranian regime to terrorize the world, particularly vital international waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz. Since 1979, this regime in Iran has been organized around a cult of death, not enlightenment. It is my hope that our allies will more aggressively collaborate with the Trump Administration so that we can move forward together to protect the freedom of navigation and reject the concept that our lives would be governed by threats from terrorist regimes. Today’s joint statement is a very good step in the right direction. gov.uk/government/new…

@Johnny_Joey They've been around for about 50 years! I remember seeing them flying into USAF Bentwaters in England. I'd occasionally see them tracking trucks along Motorways (I suppose a truck made a good substitute for a tank). Their pilots loved them.

For those of you not familiar. The A-10 Warthog is the ugliest, most absurdly beautiful killing machine to ever take flight. A flying chunk of titanium molded around a gatlin gun style cannon; the equally absurd 30mm GAU-8. It commands the adoration of troops on the ground as the sound of its unmistakable mating call the “brrrrrrp” overhead means several enemy fighters have been neutralized. It flies low and slow delivering death more intimately than any other fighter jet could fathom. Cloaked in armor, it’s rumored to be able to take damage to 70% of its airframe and still land with ease. It doesn’t need a long or even paved runway. The uppity nerds running the Air Force have decided to “phase them out” this year… yet here they are continuing to “get some”. I personally think that @USMC should take the them over… they fit perfectly in our “take old shit and make it great” culture.

@JWhitebread1 You're attempting to excuse the rambling of a demented old man that has never respected societal norms. Banter may be fine in the bar but it's not in international diplomacy. Trump has, yet again, made himself and the US an international laughing stock.

Okay, I think I need to explain something to any Japanese listeners. In American culture, very close friends often express affection through a practice we call "giving grief" or less delicately, "bustin' balls." We insult each other, make inappropriate comments at the other's expense, often at very inappropriate times, etc. It is frankly, one of the surest signs of trust and closeness between equals. We wouldn't do this with someone who WASN'T a very close friend and confidant. You see this more amongst men, and more in informal situations. Admittedly, you don't see it much in professional settings, and it almost never appears in international diplomacy, BUT, Trump is built different. I have no doubt, that's how Trump meant it. It's too on the nose to be anything else. He's trying to say, we respect you and admire you greatly, and we can banter like this, because we are equals. The correct response is to utterly ROAST or insult your friend back in response. This can even evolve into what is called a "game of dozens" which is a friendly contest to see you can insult their friend with the best, most scathing insult. I think I will stop before I have to explain "Your Momma" jokes, but I think you can get the gist. Please feel free to utterly destroy America with a clever insult in response.
