@csevs19 Have taught teams to have 5 man breakouts based on reading the forecheck. Did it at prep, junior + college. There is a way to have an answer for just about any forecheck. It’s not set plays, it’s reads..and simple math. Yes, there are broken plays but u can attack from dzone

Breakouts in hockey….we can draw it up, and snap it around in practice but if it all goes to hell in games we haven’t prepared them for the demands they face in competition.

@csevs19 I used to shorten the blade by 1/3 to 1/2 to force players to handle the puck on the flat part of the blade. Worked well

While it might seem obvious, one of the biggest separators is the ability to catch a pass with pressure, and make the next play. Easy to do isolated, tough when you might get wrecked. So many players can skate, and dangle, but struggle with this 👆

Yes it makes sense, but I’m also not teaching a QB to throw it harder, I’m teaching them to throw it straighter!!! We have lost sight of what makes great QBs great physically - it’s throwing it exactly where they want to, not throwing it faster!!

James Hagens will be a BC Eagle at least another week. 2G 1A tonight as Boston College ends Maine season and advances to the Hockey East semi-final next Friday. Hagens now 23-22-45 in 33 games this season. Career numbers 70GP 34-48-82

@JasonGregor Guys like Ullmark and Jarry can’t steal you games. They don’t have the fundamentals, balance, leg strength, focus, use of the stick, nor enough backbone to do it for their teammates when they are struggling.

@feedthefish79 I watched him in Boston for years and could have told you. Ok puck mover. Doesn’t hit much nor does he scare anyone. I guy like that needs to be an elite puck mover, otherwise he’s just taking up space. Which is what he did in Boston.

Not sure why people are surprised by no response from TOR after hit on Matthews. That is their culture. They have a few guys like McCabe and Domi, who will stand up, but their leadership core never has. You can change coach, GM all you like, but they don't set the on-ice tone. Crosby and Malkin stood up for themselves and team followed. Kane, Toews and Keith did for Chicago. Doughty did with the Kings. Ovechkin in Washington. Point, Kucherov and Hedman in TB. MacKinnon and Landeskog in COL. Stone, Pietrangelo in VGK. Tkachuk, Bennett, Ekblad in FLA. McDavid and Draisaitl push back. TOR core never has. It isn't in them and it filters down.
