I spoke on the “Governing the Future: Innovation, Regulation & Emerging Technology,” panel at the #TexasPolicySummit today where we discussed how Texas can lead in an era of rapid technological advancement. As the Chair of the Senate Committee on Economic Development, I am especially focused on how emerging technologies like artificial intelligence will impact our workforce, our economy, and our daily lives. #txlege @TPPF

Semiconductors power our everyday lives, and are included in pretty much anything you can think of -- from smartphones and cars to advanced AI and defense systems. Texas ranks No. 1 for semiconductor manufacturing capacity and is the nation's top exporter of semiconductors for 15 years in a row. We are connecting the nation and the world from right here in our great state!

As the author of the CHIPS for America Act, I couldn’t be more proud to see @TAMU leading the charge to ensure our state — and our nation — is not reliant on foreign countries for semiconductor chips. This institute will strengthen Texas's economy and bolster our national security for years to come. #GigEm!

@JLopas 100%. Thanks for your investment here. Texas and Texas cities and regions can't take for granted that investment and job creation will come here with permitting, tax limitations or energy restrictions. We have to plan thru it.

I’ve been having thoughts along these lines recently. Texas’ current openness to development shouldn’t be taken for granted. There are many forces trying to change this.

America will have to build, a lot. Texas is the obvious answer and where all political projects around “deregulation and abundance” should be focused on. Texas can never be ideologically captured if america is to survive. The american special economic zone

Today, I issued interim charges for House committees of the 89th Texas Legislature to guide our work ahead of the next legislative session in 2027. These priorities build on our recent progress, strengthen accountability in government, reduce inefficiencies, and ensure key initiatives are carried out as intended—while laying the foundation for a strong 90th Legislative Session. Thank you to our committee chairs and all who contributed their insight throughout this process. Together, we will continue advancing the freedom and opportunity that drives Texas. #txlege

Scenes from the 4th annual Austin DeepTech Dinner I hosted. It’s great to see how people who met here have started collaborating and growing over the last few years. When Merle first came, Proto Town was just starting out and found some of their early residents/customers here. They met companies like Aquaria, TerraFirma and Aeon here who they started working with later. Allen Control Systems was still 10 people or so working out of Luke Allen’s house, now they are a team of over a 100. One of the construction automation companies is looking at doing nine figures in revenue this year, 2 years ago it was just cofounders running experiments who had not closed their pre-seed yet. Base Power was in stealth when I first met Justin, now they are a $3 billion company. Investors showing up at these do $1-5m checks on average and can be the first checks at $100-250k. Thank you to @intangibleai and @bharatvasan for making it possible this year and to @lukeallen1138 for letting use his house again. Thank you @AsraNadeem, my partner in all of these! And Jenny and Juan for helping invite folks. And to our friends and family for taking care of logistics and operations.

Most capital is flowing to the visible layers, the factories, the contracts, the end products. But returns concentrate at the bottlenecks, because that’s where scarcity lives. If you’re allocating without knowing where the real constraints are, you’re optimizing the wrong part of the system. Ad Astra exists to redirect capital into the heart of the industrial base, to the bottlenecks. Inspired by Oliver Hsu's A Primer on Factory Economics for Startups, a factory's capacity is determined by its constraining resource. Improve anything other than the bottleneck and you haven't improved the system. This is true at the facility level. It's also true at the national level. The industrial base is the building. If you know what’s inside, how it operates, what’s between the walls, that’s the leverage. That’s what you optimize. The real constraints are the workforce shortages, capital mismatches, material dependencies, and infrastructure bottlenecks that no single company or industry can solve alone. The investors aren’t just financial. They’re capital allocators asking where to deploy, government leaders asking what policy to change and what resources to allocate, and operators asking what to build and where to expand. All of them need to move at speed and can’t afford to guess wrong about where the real constraints are. That’s what we map. That’s what we solve.
