@chris_kratovil @Brett_McMurphy So, break any rules you want, ones that carry mandatory suspensions, then find a hometown judge to side with you, take advantage of how slow the legal system is, and the rules no longer apply. Better allow every player to bet on their team now. Texas Tech is setting the standard.
English

Texas litigator here. Unless and until the Amarillo Court of Appeals or the Texas Supreme Court stays or dissolves the valid temporary injunction obtained by Brandon Sorsby, Texas Tech would be well within its right to take legal action against any entity—the Big XII Conference, the CFP, other universities—that attempts to “punish” Tech for complying with with the controversial-but-lawful TI. Sorsby has been reinstated by a lawful order from court of competent jurisdiction, and while Tech is not obligated to play Sorsby, it currently has the right to do so. And the NCAA’s interlocutory appeal of the TI order is unlikely to be resolved prior to the end of the college football season. Against this backdrop, any organization that attempts to step in for the NCAA to exclude Sorsby is inviting a lawsuit from Sorsby and/or Tech, with Tech taking the position that it is merely complying with the TI order and that it can’t be punished for doing so.

Texas Tech AD Kirby Hocutt: “To my colleagues: I understand the frustration. This situation is hard, it is new & there is no perfect answer. The system we’re operating w/in is binary, but the situation is not”

@BigHen49 @JayRMoody @CFB_Pat NCAA rules, specifically NCAA Bylaw 10.3, strictly prohibit athletes, coaches, and staff from wagering on any sport sponsored by the NCAA. Penalties for sports betting range from a mandatory one-year suspension to permanent ineligibility. There you go.
English

@JayRMoody @CFB_Pat Begging the people that comment on this to actually read the facts. Literally begging

@RazorKingdom @DrLoafCFB @7p9dqv4nrh @therandomsec Of the easiest paths to the CWS WVU ranked 4th of 8, Alabama was #1. Regardless you can’t choose who you play, you just need to beat them. Not WVU’s fault UCLA was swept by a 4 seed, just as Alabama can’t be faulted for St. John’s falling in their lap.
English

@DrLoafCFB @7p9dqv4nrh @Drew_T_Cal @therandomsec And WVU is only in Omaha because they got to dodge UCLA…
English

For the second year in a row, the two best teams have played each other in game 1.
Arkansas vs. LSU last year
Georgia vs. Texas this year
It's pretty annoying, would y'all be okay with a reseeding in Omaha?
Georgia Baseball@BaseballUGA
See you in Omaha 👋 #GoDawgs
English

@RazorKingdom @DrLoafCFB @7p9dqv4nrh @therandomsec Maybe but we both played Kentucky, Alabama was swept and WVU won 2-1. That’s something.
English

@RaiderTy92 @fantasyfrawd @PeteNakos @jlkurtz He’s right you know, Texas may have been right that all Texas Tech needed was money and a favorable legal system to become the enemy.

Trial is set for week of Feb. 8, per court documents. CFP national title game on Jan. 25.

NEW: Texas Tech QB Brendan Sorsby has been granted a preliminary injunction against the NCAA and is eligible for the 2026 season. on3.com/news/judge-gra…
English

@GillyGillz1185 They can’t…read the ruling you clown 🤡
English

Speaking with a level head, I think the headache of him playing for 1 season is not worth it. I feel bad for him and am glad he got the help he needed, but risk outweighs benefit at this point. NCAA will do everything in their power to vacate this entire season anyways.
On3@On3
NEW: Big 12 ADs say “serious” talks have been held about not playing Texas Tech after Brendan Sorsby's ruling, @RossDellenger reports. on3.com/news/brendan-s…
English

@GillyGillz1185 I think regardless of the injunction the NCAA will win down the road and vacate the entire season if he plays.
English

@CoyoteRaider The NCAA is wrong about a lot, Texas tech is wrong about this. For once the NCAA has it right.
English

@AllKindsWeather I agree, but they need to win in court to be able to do this. I’m not a lawyer, so I don’t know if they can say that though before a win in court.
English

Actually, the NCAA can very easily prevent Brendan Sorsby from playing lol
All it takes is one statement that reads “if Brendan Sorsby so much as plays a single down for Texas Tech, not only does Texas Tech forfeit every game of that season but their entire athletics program is permanently barred from competing for NCAA Championships in any sport.”
They could put that out there with about two minutes of work, and then enforce it by simply never allowing Texas Tech to be selected for the CFP or NCAA Tournament in any sport ever again.
Beyond a bunch of oil barons and the few thousand people who rely on their money in West Texas needing to find a new hobby, there’s absolutely zero downside to this. Sometimes, there just needs to be a sacrificial lamb. It’s called a deterrent. And when someone disrupts the natural flow of society badly enough, you need to hold a public execution to remind the masses that the very idea of law and order still exists. College sports will survive just fine without the presence of a historically irrelevant athletics program that’s third fiddle in its own state.
Pete Thamel@PeteThamel
From the ruling, the NCAA is cannot prevent Texas Tech quarterback Brendan Sorsby from "practicing, playing or otherwise participating on Texas Tech's football team for the 2026 season."
English

@TirbyMo @Flamingmunkey @PeteThamel It will not, but it will probably be after the season, so it’s a moot point. They are using the fact the legal system is so slow to the advantage of Texas Tech. Hey at least Texas Tech is teaching us to cheat, sue, get an injunction and you win.
English

@TirbyMo @Flamingmunkey @PeteThamel Because the NCAA will absolutely win the appeal in any court outside Lubbock, and ever win with Sorsby will be vacated.
English

@yankees28plz @CollegeFBonX I mean Tavon was amazing, figured I’d give another player love. Vaughn is a sneaky good option too, glad we are getting lots of WVU players out there.
English

@Drew_T_Cal @CollegeFBonX Respect, had to go with Tavon. Another underrated answer imo would be Vaughn Rivers.
English

@MattMedina6 @notthefakeSVP Though hair is not relevant to the fact that teams come back when people leave points on the field. If you can score, why would you ever not? There is no running out the clock in baseball. Should players just refuse to swing with a big league? What’s the difference?
English

@Drew_T_Cal @notthefakeSVP Chemo doesn’t give you power alleys like the Polo Grounds.
English

If anyone can take down LSU’s record for Jell-O shots, it’s you.
I believe in you. Have a time, Mountaineers.
WVU Baseball@WVUBaseball
FOR THE FIRST TIME IN PROGRAM HISTORY, WE'RE GOING TO THE COLLEGE WORLD SERIES!!! #HailWV // #Omaneers
English

@the_dawg_father Why would we reseed? Should March madness reseed? We seed to start the tournament, then see what happens. Baseball is also different. Fresno won as a 4 seed, no 13-16 seed has even sniffed the final 4 besides St. Peter’s let alone win it. Teams get hot, can’t account for that.
English

@MattMedina6 @notthefakeSVP Terrible take, this isn’t a timed sport, you can’t run out the clock. This isn’t football or basketball where you mathematically cannot win. If you still have an out left you have a chance. Letting up is how teams come back. Also, WVU invents ways to lose, never assume it’s over.
English

@notthefakeSVP After seeing WVU double steal while up by 15 in the 7th inning today I want to see them get destroyed in Omaha. Gotta respect your opponents and the game.
