IMPORTANT: Georgian Dream issue a damning verdict against democratic leader Elene Khoshtaria @Helenkhosh before [their own] court announces a sentence.
And by doing so, they are close to equating an anti-Georgian Dream graffiti with organizing a revolution.
Today, the regime court suddenly decided to extend her proceedings into March and delay the unlawful verdict.
Her crime? Writing “Russian Dream” on a Georgian Dream local election banner in September 2025, with a removable marker, and in solidarity with a female student who had been arrested over the same act. The “crime” implies 1 to 5 years in prison.
GD MP Irakli Kadagishvili said: “It’s not like she just randomly made the graffiti and was arrested over it. She’s the organizer of the entire revolutionary and anti-state actions. And this act was one of her political statements.”
GD Speaker of the Parliament Shalva Papuashvili called the graffiti a "dangerous" "politically motivated crime," which Khoshtaria committed "consciously," and that, precisely as a mother of 4, she must be familiar with what responsibility over her actions means.
Full comment by Papuashvili, responding to a journalist's question: "How long will Elene Khoshtaria, a mother of four children, who was arrested for writing on a banner, have to stay in prison?"
"Such politically motivated crimes are dangerous, among other things, because they do not have a clear political motivation. This is not just hooliganism, but a politically motivated crime. Accordingly, in all countries there is a strict approach to such crimes. Being a mother of 4 children also means that she is an adult who probably understands the responsibility for raising her children. Accordingly, she understands the responsibility for herself. She [Khoshtaria] knew what she was doing, what responsibility this would entail, she did it, and now she must take responsibility for herself. If an adult has the courage to break the law, she must also have the courage to answer for this violation."
