This is not to say that AI should be unregulated or that we shouldn't have social support for displaced workers -- other arguments may be more compelling. But if your argument would also have told everyone in 1900 not to adopt telephones, then it is a bad argument.

It is good for the world that virtually no one can earn a living wage as a telegraph operator, and it would have been bad if we had prevented people from using telephones in order to protect telegraph workers.
