Ahead of my trip to the African Championships, I’ll be sharing some of my favorite photos of African players. This one, featured in my book #TheThinkers, is a portrait of FM Haruna Nsubuga, from Uganda. Haruna won both the Junior Championship and the Uganda National Championship in 2011, at the age of 19. He has represented his country at the Chess Olympiads in Batumi 2018, Chennai 2022, and Budapest 2024.
