@theowenstaton That short segment of film and the "In Search of" episode set 5 year old me of the folklore trajectory I'm still on. It is sad. But damn if it isn't part of my DNA!

Some of you might remember my debate with Ken 6-11 about Bigfoot which was entertaining in the extreme . I wonder what he would think about this ? I’m quite sad about it people.com/famous-1967-bi…

@HooklandGuide Nephomancy of sky and phytognomy of earth...as the old prayer says "grant me eloquent speech and wisdom. And healing hands while I live." (I needed this grounding reminder from Hookland today)

Give me a sky with clouds for nephomancy, a tangled field edge for phytognomy and I’ll tell you tomorrow. For nature gifts every tool needed to look around time’s corner. The witch does not want for signs. Walking brings a cascade of omens. – #EmilyCBanting, 1982 #Witchcrafft

This absolutely amazing chest and tools belonged to a Viking Age craftsman who lived more than 1000 years ago. It was found in a bog in the year 1936 in Mästermyr here in Sweden. The chest is made from oak and measures 90 x 25 cm (35" x 10") and is 20 cm (8") high.

Albuquerque turned a wall of its airport bookshop over to its local university press, and goddamn, now I want this in every airport.

Fucking hell. Even the paper targets could have returned fire and killed him at the glacial pace he walked through that performative horseshit.

If Aristotle is right and happiness is the state of the soul in an activity of excellence, then off loading all our creative and intellectual work to AI will make us supremely miserable.

this quote from Carl Jung hits so hard. “The world is full of people suffering from the effects of their own unlived life. They become bitter, critical, or rigid, not because the world is cruel to them, but because they have betrayed their own inner possibilities. The artist who never makes art becomes cynical about those who do. The lover who never risks loving mocks romance. The thinker who never commits to a philosophy sneers at belief itself. And yet, all of them suffer, because deep down they know: the life they mock is the life they were meant to live.”

It’s funny how we are constantly having the “should writers have to read?” discourse, when the question should be “why are you even writing stories if you don’t like them?”What made you want to create something you’ve never enjoyed?
