The Sony PS2 Emotion Engine has a serial (UART) interface. This interface was used by the PS2 homebrew community in early 2000’s. It was used to load .elf files at the poky speed of 115200 baud. Very slow going compared to LAN, but it worked. 😎🤘#Sony #PS2 #PlayStation2 #gamedev

@momo393alioth @_BehindTheCode @geovani60624 Actually, it was the PSX (& by extension, the Namco System256) the first to use EE+GS Then, the slim 70k came in with motherboard versions for both split and combined EE,GS Slim 75k came with a special motherboard version (gh-036) that was the last to have split EE GS

In The European version of Aeon Flux for the PS2, it uses a copy of Windows 2000 Professional as a dummy file. DUMMY.FIL seems to be a .bin/cue dump of the installation media, so the contents of the file can be accessed once a cuesheet is supplied to it.

@ITNonsupport @Johnneh_80 Namco didn't mod anything Sony took the PS2 USA release motherboard model, stripped it from certain components and repurposed the DEV9 interface (where network adapter connects) into a generic interface for buyers to connect additional hardware.

@Johnneh_80 Namco modded the ps2 platform into an arcade board. They used it for Tekken, Soulcalibur, time Crisis, and the like

@DCFUKSURMOM @Johnneh_80 It jumps to an error screen and doesn't go further bc Pcsx2 doesn't have MagicGate emulation My fork will not require MagicGate bc the solution is very simple: Instead of executing the encrypted MagicGate bootloader, just execute the elf file the bootloader is supposed to run

Silly me didn't realize the answer was in front of my eyes all the time The FPGA Altera APEX EP20K100EQC208-2X has lines connecting it to the ACRAM and the IDE port So basically it's acting as ACRAM manager and ATA controller

The SRAM is wired to it too, yet I can dump it without uploading a bitstream to the FPGA Basically, the ATA and ATAPI stuff I've been writing to #PCSX2x6 is the FPGA emulation lol Fortunately, there seem to be only 4 versions of the bitstream, less variations to emulate

@lorizzuoso I was never working on Sys 246/256 support. The PCSX2 fork was only ever meant to support Konami's Python 2 platform games. MagicGate support (taken from balika011's fork) was required for Python 2 to be able to run.

@aldostools @tobi_esto A little detail: the PlayStation2 bios does not have the actual sound we hear, it has several sound samples that sound nothing like what we hear, it's the OSDSYS program that mixes and modifies it on the run. PS2 audio extractor tools can pull it off from SCPH-10000 bios image

@HuntShowdown When will you deal with the issues regarding CPU and GPU usage on the main menu? My GPU usually sits at 60° while in a match But gets to 100° in main menu lol (if I open a settings menu it falls back to 60° instantly)

Y llegó el triste momento. Vendo mi preciada PSX Desr 7000 en un estado estético envidiable, muy mimada con su mando, cables y 4 juegos para que se la pueda dar uso si no se tienen juegos japos a mano. Motivo: Falta de espacio, por lo que no me urge deshacerme de ella.
