I also find it interesting that Paul expounds on Christ's promise in Ephesians 4 11-16. I cannot understand how some pick and hold fast certain teachings yet wholly ignore others. Is the cornerstone of a building what makes a building? Is it even the entirety of the foundation? What is the cornerstone set on? Is the cornerstone the rock too? Did Christ call Peter, Petra or Cephas? Why would Jesus give His apostles specific powers: "To bind and loose..." "To forgive and retain sins..." Only to EXPIRE them within one lifetime.

Ever hear a Catholic say “we gave you your Bible!” J. I. Packer refutes this nonsense well: “The Church no more gave us the New Testament canon than Sir Isaac Newton gave us the force of gravity. God gave us gravity . . . Newton did not create gravity but recognized it.” J. I. Packer, God Has Spoken: Revelation and the Bible (Grand Rapids: Baker, 1993), 109.

The Apostles picked Mathias to replace Judas and Christ called Paul. God named an entire tribe of priests to guide the Israelites for a few thousand years. Paul’s letter was written ~8 years after he established in Ephesus in ~53 AD. To people he preached the Gospel. He didn’t have the New Testament, but established the Church. I still don’t see where it says anything about apostles not passing on their office. It seems too great a leap for me to take an interpretation that limits Christ’s promise to His Church.

@F3_Haskell @Trent_Horn @BibleInContext1 You shouldn’t trust me. Trust the Scriptures. People who followed the apostles weren’t guaranteed infallibility. And Rome and the East have to so hyperqualify infallibility to be meaningless compared to the apostles

Because the Holy Spirit doesn’t change and Christ promised His Apostles the Spirit would guide them into ALL TRUTH. It would follow that THEY, in turn, passed that TRUTH to their successors. The other option is that that didn’t happen and Christ didn’t choose His successors well. I refuse that premise outright. You claim something and I do not believe YOU.

So… when, in the early Church, did the Holy Spirit leave them? Christ promised the 12, not the 70, or the 5000. He promised 12 and they all taught and chose THEIR successors. Which “church” today has the authority to guide YOU? You claim the Holy Spirit, but when 20 or more of you are together, do you all believe the exact same thing, regarding Scripture? Why so many denominations then? Why so many cult of personalities?

“Diversity”… lol. There are many who claim they have the truth: “Now I say this because each of you is saying: "Certainly, I am of Paul;" "But I am of Apollo;" "Truly, I am of Cephas;" as well as: "I am of Christ." Has Christ been divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?” 1 Corinthians 1:12-13 CPDV bible.com/bible/42/1co.1… Your arguments ignore Christ. Was He a liar or just wrong? Did His promise to His apostles mean nothing? When did His promise expire? “But when the Spirit of truth has arrived, he will teach the whole truth to you. For he will not be speaking from himself. Instead, whatever he will hear, he will speak. And he will announce to you the things that are to come. He shall glorify me. For he will receive from what is mine, and he will announce it to you. All things whatsoever that the Father has are mine. For this reason, I said that he will receive from what is mine and that he will announce it to you.” John 16:13-15 CPDV bible.com/bible/42/jhn.1…

Mary was chosen by God & blessed but she is not the new ark. You say that Mary was prepared as a worthy dwelling & Catholics are taught about the immaculate conception, which says that Mary was born without the stain of original sin & lived a sinless life even though Mary herself said God was her saviour, not to mention nobody is born without the stain of original sin. These ideas actually undermine grace. There’s also no biblical rule that God can only dwell in something already sinless. In fact, the Bible actually says that Jesus sanctifies anything he enters & God’s holiness cleanses, not that something must be cleansed or sanctified before he can enter. This also ties in with your question, though seeming rhetorical, about why would God do less for the new covenant than he did when he prepared the Ark for the old covenant. They are actually fundamentally different things, which is made clear in Hebrews. The old covenant emphasised separation, fear, & distance. The new covenant emphasises access, mercy, & nearness. God no longer dwells in objects, he dwells in people. If Mary had to be sinless to carry Jesus then every believer must also be sinless because 1 Corinthians 6:19 says ‘Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit’. You would also do well to read Hebrews 9:11 - ‘Christ came as high priest of the good things that are now already here, not through the greater and more perfect tabernacle made with hands’. This also leads me into your point about the Eucharist & Tabernacle. What you are basically claiming is: The Ark of the Covenant physically contained God’s presence. Mary carried Jesus physically, therefore Mary equals the New Ark. The Ark was kept in the Holy of Holies. The Eucharist is Jesus physically present, therefore the tabernacle (where the Eucharist is kept) equals New Holy of Holies thus meaning Catholic churches contain God’s physical presence the way the Temple once did. This is being used to justify real, localised divine presence, sacred spaces, priestly mediation & sacramental grace. If anything, this would point to regression, not the new ark. The old ark had 3 specific functions which were: 1 - It symbolised God’s throne (mercy seat). 2 - It functioned under a covenant of distance and fear. 3 - It was tied to blood sacrifice & restricted access. The Ark was dangerous because sin had not yet been dealt with permanently. The Bible actually tells us what the new Ark is, & it isn’t Mary. It is actually Jesus himself. Romans 3:25 ‘God presented Christ as a hilastērion (mercy seat)’. So biblically: The Ark was fulfilled in Jesus Christ, The mercy seat was fulfilled in Jesus Christ, The sacrifice was fulfilled in Jesus Christ, & the priesthood was fulfilled in Jesus Christ. Your claim that ‘The Ark held the tangible signs of God’s presence… The Eucharist (housed in the tabernacle) is the real, physical presence of Jesus’ actually assumes 3 things the New Testament never teaches. 1 - that Jesus’ physical body is locally present on earth. Catholicism requires Jesus’ body to be in heaven & on thousands of altars simultaneously. The New Testament says that Jesus’ body is in heaven, & his presence with believers is by the Spirit, not by relocation of His body. 2 - That sacred space continues under the New Covenant. Jesus actually ends sacred geography as seen in John 4-21:24 & confirmed in Acts 17:24 & 1 Corinthians 3:16. So, under the New Covenant God does not dwell in objects or in buildings. God dwells in people. To say ‘the tabernacle is the new Holy of Holies’ actually reverses the entire direction of the New Testament. 3 - That the Ark model still governs access to God. The Ark system said: stay away, only priests, only once a year, & fear death. The gospel says: draw near, all believers, at all times, & with confidence. So when Catholicism reintroduces sacred objects, restricted access, mediating priests, & physical loci of grace, It’s not ‘continuity’ it’s regression. So no Mary isn’t the new ark.

My daughter, Aubrynn, was 17 years old. She was selected for a school trip from July 9 to July 22. The vaccine was mandatory for the trip. She was the only one in our family who received it, despite our pleas not to. She was vaccinated on June 7 and again on June 28, 2022. She left for her trip, and on July 18 she texted me that she did not feel well. We did not hesitate. We immediately drove from Michigan to New York to bring her home. We arrived the next day, which was also our three year old’s birthday. We celebrated with cake and ice cream. Later that night, Aubrynn and I shared some soup together before she went to bed. The next morning, I took her to urgent care. We waited for hours. At one point, she managed to sit up and quietly asked me, “Did they call me yet?” Before we even understood what was happening, my daughter collapsed from cardiac arrest. She was airlifted to Children’s Hospital. She was placed on an ECMO machine and treated with Remdesivir. Her body began shutting down. Her limbs turned black from lack of blood flow. Infections spread. Her kidneys failed. On August 6, we were told there was nothing more they could do. We were forced to make the impossible decision to turn off the machines. We had to let our daughter go. I am sharing this because Aubrynn mattered. Her life mattered. Her story matters. She was not just a number or a statistic. She was my child. And I will spend the rest of my life speaking her name and telling the truth about what happened to her.

For those being led by religious influencers by the nose here’s my reflection on the opening ceremony: Watching the Opening Ceremony of the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, I also noticed how quickly some religious voices online rushed to condemn what they were seeing. Social media filled almost immediately with claims that certain colors, lighting choices, or artistic elements must secretly point to something dark or anti Christian. But watching the ceremony itself, calmly and in full, told a very different story. Italy presented something deeply rooted in culture, art, and history. The staging drew from Renaissance imagery, geometry, cosmic themes, and human creativity. Light, color, and symbolism were used the way artists have always used them: to evoke wonder, unity, and beauty. Red lighting, celestial imagery, abstract forms. These are normal artistic languages, not hidden codes. What struck me most was how easily we sometimes forget that not everything symbolic is sinister. Fire, light, stars, circles, patterns. These belong to all humanity. Scripture itself uses cosmic imagery constantly. Creation itself points upward. Art often tries to do the same. The ceremony was not a religious ritual, nor was it mocking faith. It was a celebration of human culture, sport, and shared experience. And honestly, much of the symbolism pointed toward harmony, human cooperation, and the beauty of creation itself. Those are not threats to Christian faith. They are themes Christians should be able to recognize and appreciate. There is also a pastoral concern here. When believers constantly search for hidden evil in every cultural moment, we risk training people to see fear where there is none. Not every artistic flourish is rebellion. Not every use of color is propaganda. Sometimes beauty is simply beauty. For a few hours, nations gathered, music filled the air, lights danced across the stadium, and people around the world watched together. No one was being attacked. No faith was being erased. Instead, humanity celebrated skill, creativity, and shared hope. In a wounded world, moments of shared wonder are rare. Perhaps we should learn to receive them with gratitude rather than suspicion. #WinterOlympics #MilanoCortinaOlympic2026
