I had a little free time yesterday, and I used it to ask my Protestant friends to tell me where the Bible stated clearly, "Mary is a sinner." I became sola scriptura yesterday. Just for them. But none could show me where it was stated in the Bible that Mary sinned. They all instead kept saying, "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God." But last I remember, Mary's name is not "all." And even as I'm typing this, none of them, not even their pastors, could point it out to me clearly where the Bible called Mary to be a sinner. Mary was free from sin. She was born sinless, and she died sinless. Even the Bible that is the only source of truth for our separated brethren could not point out where it was recorded that Mary sinned.

I need Protestants to actually point to me exactly where it is mentioned in the Bible that "Mary is a sinner." Since you are sola scriptura, let's go sola scriptura. Just one part in the Bible where it is said, explicitly that "Mary, the Mother of God is a sinner." Because I'm tired of seeing your heresies in my comment section every time I talk about Mary. Mary was born sinless. She died sinless. Period! But if you have proof of Mary being sinful, show me.

Why would people still be guessing?!??!! No one will know. But keep trying to figure out God’s plan. I’m sure he’ll appreciate it. Partial preterism (which aligns with historic Catholic and much Protestant teaching) does not claim Jesus returned bodily in AD 70. That’s full preterism, rejected as heresy. The Olivet Discourse uses OT “coming on the clouds” language for divine judgment on Israel/Temple, fulfilled literally when Rome destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple exactly as described (this generation did not pass). The final bodily Second Coming, 1st Resurrection, and end of the age remain future. Hosea 6:2 is poetic restoration language, not a 3000 AD calendar. Stick to primary texts over modern speculation.

@F3_Haskell @SawtelleAn5682 Jesus did not return bodily in the second coming in 70AD. Fruitcake theology by those contemptible, heresy driving Preterists. Second Coming and 1st Resurrection are the same day, and by Hosea 6, potentially around 3000AD.

Many Christians are seething and many are sputtering jibberish since my post. And it demonstrates the fine tuning of designed Christianity. So I'm gonna post it again. Please repost as much as possible. P1: If Christianity is true, Jesus cannot lie. P2: Jesus stated he would return before his contemporaries died. P3: Jesus did not return before his contemporaries died. C: Christianity is not true. P1: A biblical prediction is either a literal prophecy or a metaphor. P2: If it is a literal prophecy, it failed (which makes Jesus mistaken). P3: If it is a metaphor, it is not an actual prophecy (which invalidates the prophetic claim). P4: Jesus cannot be mistaken, and his prophetic claims cannot be invalid. C: The Christian theological position is self-contradictory.

@JennyWakefiel12 Personal faith doesn't matter, just teach Rome's line" is the kind of quote anti-Catholics love to highlight. Meanwhile every Protestant denomination fires pastors who go off-script on their distinctive doctrines. Glass houses.

What the NT does show: Jesus institutes the Eucharist as a sacrificial offering: “This is my body… this is my blood of the covenant, poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins” (Matt 26:26-28). Paul calls the Eucharist a participation in Christ’s sacrifice (1 Cor 10:16-21) and refers to Christian ministers as priests (using leitourgos and priestly language in Romans 15:16). Hebrews 13:10 speaks of Christians having an “altar” from which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat. The early Church (1st-2nd century) universally understood the Mass as the re-presentation of Christ’s one sacrifice. Malachi 1:11 prophesied a pure offering among the Gentiles... that’s the Mass. The NT doesn’t spell out every doctrine in explicit 21st-century language. That’s why Christ left a Church, not just a book.

In the OT, though: Malachi 1:11 For from the rising of the sun even unto the going down of the same my name shall be great among the Gentiles; and in every place incense shall be offered unto my name, and a pure offering: for my name shall be great among the heathen, saith the LORD of hosts.

Catholics don’t attack Christianity — we are Christianity. The Catholic Church gave you the Bible you quote from, preserved it for 1,500 years before Protestantism existed, and has confessed the Trinity, Incarnation, Resurrection, and divinity of Christ from the beginning. Calling the Church founded by Christ a “counterfeit” while relying on the canon she compiled is incoherent. We defend the faith against constant attacks and false claims (like this one). That’s not “playing the victim” — it’s answering error with truth. If Catholicism is counterfeit, show us where it contradicts the Apostles. Otherwise, this is just slogan-slinging.

I believe Jesus: Luke 22:31-32Jesus said to Peter: “Simon, Simon, behold, Satan demanded to have you, that he might sift you like wheat, but I have prayed for you that your faith may not fail.” John 17:15 (in the High Priestly Prayer for the apostles) “I do not ask that you take them out of the world, but that you keep them from the evil one.” General warnings about the devil: Jesus called Satan “the ruler of this world” (John 12:31, 14:30, 16:11) and warned about spiritual warfare and deception. Looks like Christ was warning His Apostles that they were in danger. But you're fine. It's fine.

Or @WesleyLHuff is seeking to be biblical, and wants Catholics to trust in Christ alone, rather than a system of performance to gain or keep salvation. I stand with Wes. We seek to imitate Paul who faced similar opposition and said, "to them we did not yield in submission even for a moment, so that the truth of the gospel might be preserved for you." (Galatians 2:5)

Now you're getting it. Even the Apostles were warned. The Catholic Church, as we know it today, has historically been recognized as the Roman Church, or the Roman Catholic Church. This Roman church, with its traditions and later-developed teachings, is not the same church we see beginning in the book of Acts. Even Catholicism admits “development of doctrine,” which means many teachings were formulated centuries later. Roman Catholicism is an apostate counterfeit Christianity that operates like a cult and incorporates the occult and Babylonian paganism!

The Trinity. The word “Trinity” and the precise formulation of three Persons, one God is not explicitly in Scripture. It was passed down and clarified through Apostolic Tradition and the early Church’s living authority (especially at Nicaea and Constantinople). Other examples: Sunday as the Lord’s Day (not Saturday) The full canon of the New Testament (decided by the Church, not self-authenticating) Infant baptism The structure of the liturgy Paul explicitly told us to hold to traditions passed on “by word of mouth or by letter” (2 Thess 2:15). The Bible itself points beyond “Bible alone.” Sola Scriptura fails its own test — it’s not taught in Scripture.

According to Luke 1:26-38 in the Bible, the angel Gabriel greeted Mary with: "Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you" (or "Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you" in some translations). He then told her not to be afraid, that she had found favor with God, and that she would conceive and bear a son named Jesus, who would be great, called the Son of the Most High, and reign over the house of Jacob forever. The Holy Spirit would come upon her, and the child would be holy, the Son of God. Mary replied, "Let it be done to me according to your word."

The immaculate conception of Mary is demonstrably false. Consider. The Catholic Church says Mary was born without stain of original sin, yet she made a sin offering after the days of her purification completed when Jesus was born. Compare Lk 2:22-24 and Lev 12:6-8. And consider what Paul said: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, Rom 3:23-24 ALL have sinned, except obviously Jesus through whom redemption comes. ALL then must clearly include Mary. No exceptions are allowed for here, except Jesus through whom the redemption is explicitly said to come to us. But ask yourself, why did Catholicism make up the contrivance of the Immaculate Conception? Do you know? It was because of the belief that the vessel which bore the sinless savior must itself be pure, holy and without stain of sin. But this raises a question. If Mary herself was born pure, holy and without stain of sin, what about her mother who bore her? Surely she too must have been sinless from birth. And then what about her mother, and so on, ad infinitum. But here’s where that fails. We know the very first woman, Eve was a sinner. So clearly we know this chain of sinless vessels is false. It is an absurdity. So either it goes on as infinitum, which we just saw from scripture is false because Eve was a sinner. Or it began with Mary which we also saw from scripture is false because all but Jesus have sinned - Rom 3:23-24. The dogma of the immaculate conception is demonstrably false and is clearly proven false from scripture.

Lol I'll take this. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; All? Romans 3:10-12 10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: Paul wrote this likely having met Mary. None righteous? Not one?? Galatians 3:22 But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe. There's that pesky ALL again. Catholicism should have banned that word when it had the chance. Eclesiastes 7:20 For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not. For the libs out there "man" in this context means us ALL. Not just men. Romans 5:18 (KJV) Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. "Judgement came upon ALL men" So they needed a saviour. I'm sure Mary didn't, right? What's your take, Mary? "And my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour" (Luke 1:47) Oh dear. Is that enough, or do you need me to explain what "All" means again?

The "but the word Catholic" isn't in scripture argument ignores all of Christian history. For you to believe this you need to believe that Christ stopped building his Church. That the Holy Spirit stopped guiding His Church. That when He said He wanted ONE Church, that He was waiting for the 1500's. If you're SDA then He was waiting for the 1800's. It's really not hard to understand.

@GryphiusEitel @F3_Haskell @whpub Men are fallen, we agree. So why follow Luther? Don't you know his history? King Henry? Calvin? Knox? Why follow such men? All while you have faith in Scripture, the Trinity, dual natures, etc., due to Christ's Church, which you reject. Prayed at Mass today for your conversion.

In Roman Catholicism: Jesus is insufficient as the sole Mediator and requires subordinate heavenly mediators and intercessors. The Holy Spirit is insufficient to guide believers through the God-breathed Scriptures and requires an infallible institution of men to provide the final interpretation. The Father is insufficient to confess sins to directly and requires a human priest to receive sacramental confession. Christ’s once-for-all sacrifice is insufficient and requires continual sacramental representation through the Mass. The finished work of Christ is insufficient and requires postmortem purification in purgatory. The righteousness of Christ is insufficient and requires infused righteousness and sacramental participation to complete the process. Scripture is insufficient as the final and sufficient rule of faith and requires unwritten traditions and an infallible magisterium. The authority of God speaking in Scripture is insufficient and requires an infallible human authority to tell believers what God means. Christ’s headship over the Church is insufficient and requires a universal earthly head. The intercession of Christ is insufficient and requires the intercession of departed saints. The believer’s direct access to God through Christ is insufficient and requires a sacramental priesthood to administer channels of grace. The blood of Christ is insufficient to fully remove punishment and requires temporal penalties to still be paid. Justification through faith in Christ is insufficient and requires sacramental cooperation and ongoing merit. Christ’s declaration “It is finished” is insufficient and requires continuing satisfactions for sin. The priesthood of all believers is insufficient and requires a distinct sacerdotal class standing over the laity. The promises of God are insufficient and require recourse to heavenly patrons and devotions. The ordinary means appointed in Scripture are insufficient and require a developed system of sacramental mediation. The Word of God is insufficiently clear in its essential message and requires an infallible interpreter. The Gospel itself is insufficiently preserved by God and requires an institution claiming indefectibility to safeguard it. This is about as Antichrist and anti-gospel one can get.
