📌 What a media event it was! A total of 13,478 media accreditations were validated for the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. 🔹 2,537 written and photographic press were accredited, representing 803 organisations and 62 NOCs. 🔹 Across the various press categories, female representation varied significantly, ranging from 11% among local journalists (Ex) to 43% among NOC press attachés (NOC E) - great job! 🔹 Media Rights-Holders and host broadcaster accreditations totalled 10,941 ➡️ All the numbers: olympics.com/ioc/news/milan…

Olympian Makes the Power-Elite Shake: Ukrainian Olympian @heraskevych shared the disturbing behind-the-scenes behavior of International Olympic Committee chief Kirsty Coventry—when she was urging him to give up his “Memory Helmet.” On Jonathan Fink’s @CurtainSilicon podcast, Vladyslav Heraskevych, the skeleton racer unjustly disqualified because of his helmet honoring athletes killed in war, described the IOC chief as shaking and very nervous when she met with him. It almost seems like she was scared into doing someone else’s bidding, no? The International Paralympic Committee has prohibited the Ukrainian Paralympic Team from wearing their national uniform due to… its inclusion of elements of the Ukrainian map within its internationally recognized borders. There is no moral low that the IPC bureaucrats would not reach. They are ready to ruin the remains of the Committee's reputation by acting against UNGA resolutions, Ukraine’s territorial integrity, and international law, only to please Russian war criminals. We urge the international community, including all countries and national Paralympic committees, to condemn the IPC's immoral actions, including their disgraceful decision to allow blood-stained Russian and Belarusian flags, and to boycott the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games. Please, take a clear stance and refuse to be part of the IPC's war crimes sportswashing!

I am grateful to the German Disabled Sports Association for its clear, values-based decision not to take part in the Parade of Nations at the opening ceremony of the 2026 Winter Paralympic Games. I also thank Germany’s Minister of State for Sport and Volunteering, Christiane Schenderlein, for deciding not to attend the ceremony, and for the Federal Government’s clear support for this line. Germany is showing principled leadership and taking responsibility — with a strong leadership role in European sport. Dignity is not negotiable. Already 11 nations and the EU took the only morally right decision to boycott the parade in which blood-stained Russian and Belarusian flags will wave. We thank them all and urge all others to join. It’s regretful that the IPC decided to turn what should have been a peace-promoting ceremony into a war propaganda show for Moscow and Minsk. #BoycottRussianSport Already 11 countries – Canada, Croatia, Czechia, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, and Ukraine, together with the EU, are boycotting the Opening Ceremony of the Paralympics-2026 at the official level. The decision came after the International Paralympic Committee allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete under their national flags and with their anthems at potential medal ceremonies. Allowing state symbols of the aggressors at an international sporting event is unacceptable while Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine, supported by Belarus, continues.  Your solidarity matters. It sends a clear message: sport must stand for peace, fairness, and respect for international law.
