@ThatoneQueen3 Roku’s mistake was trusting Sozin. While he was alive his existence was enough to stop Sozin but after he died that’s when Sozin’s chance was golden. Coupled with the comet he just got extremely lucky. So it is somewhat Roku’s fault but that’s literally the avatar cycle itself

Combustion Man was genuinly showing Zuko and Gaang the business so I have to put him on the list too (combustion is a subtype of fire bending). And Jeong Jeong was so goated at firebending he had the military shaking in their boots.

@christ621ml If the agni kai happens BEFORE Ozai knew about the lightning redirection technique, Zuko has a very real chance to catch it and zap Ozai. If the Agni kai happens AFTER Ozai learns of the redirection technique then Zuko hard loses.

@OrangeJellyo And on top of that, C&D also have Ty's dark teleportation, giving them 2 seconds of invulnerability. Spaced out correctly with bubble's cooldown, C&D really only have about 4 seconds of actual vulnerability before bubble is recharged.

Bubble is on a 12 second cooldown lasts for 6 seconds and is left with 6 seconds of no downtime. Adam soul bond is a 40 second cooldown and the cooldown doesn't start until AFTER the soul bond effect is done

Throw book 1 AS Aang against comet boosted Ozai and he loses HARD. Book 1 Aang is what would have to face an army of comet boosted firebenders

And we already see Aang in the avatar state fight Ozai during the comet and do well enough blocking fire from him. It’s also obviously not comparable to lightning in terms of speed.

That’s the only time it’s really backfired significantly as well from what I remember.
