Could have gone the rest of my life without knowing that humans have created mirror cells in a lab that could absolutely annihilate every ecosystem on the planet.

@elormkdaniel "Walked down an empty street with 99 phones in a red cart. The strange part.. there were NO cars at all" I dont think that's strange at all, in fact you set up that exact scenario in the first 10 words.

A man called once walked down an empty street in Berlin pulling a small red cart filled with 99 smartphones. Within minutes, the road turned bright red on Google Maps. Drivers started avoiding the street because the app warned them about a massive traffic jam. The strange part? There were no cars at all. This experiment was carried out by Simon Weckert, a German artist who wanted to demonstrate how modern navigation systems actually detect traffic. Each of the phones in the cart had Google Maps running. As Simon slowly walked down the road, all those devices were sending location updates at the same time. From Google’s perspective, it suddenly looked like nearly a hundred “vehicles” were moving extremely slowly along that street. The algorithm saw dozens of devices traveling at walking speed where traffic would normally move much faster. So it did exactly what it was designed to do. It assumed there was a traffic jam. The road turned red, and Google Maps began rerouting drivers away from it. This experiment revealed something fascinating about how traffic detection really works. Systems like Google Maps don’t rely primarily on cameras or roadside sensors. Instead, they analyze the movement patterns of millions of smartphones. When large groups of devices on the same road suddenly slow down, the system interprets that as congestion. When they start moving faster again, the traffic indicator disappears.

This is not a serious understanding of history. Apartheid South Africa had a formal legal architecture of racial separation — pass laws, bantustans, codified by race. Israel has Arab citizens, Arab judges, Arab members of Knesset. Even the West Bank is a military occupation — a different legal and moral category.
Zachary Foster@_ZachFoster

Apartheid became part of the name of the country, as in, “apartheid South Africa.” Apartheid Israel should be the same. The word Israel should never be mentioned without the word Apartheid.

They taught their children that World War II was a war between good and evil. And America won. So in the deepest layer of the American psyche, there is this foundational equation: America = the side that wins the wars against evil. Every subsequent war got loaded into that equation. Korea. Vietnam. Gulf War. Iraq. Afghanistan. Each one was presented, at the beginning, with the same moral architecture. The same clarity of purpose. The same enemy who needed to be stopped. And when the wars turned out to be complicated, when the reasons turned out to be false, when the conduct turned out to be criminal, when the outcomes turned out to be catastrophic, the equation couldn't be revised. Because the equation is not really about the wars. The equation is about the identity. You cannot tell Americans that Vietnam was a war crime without implying that America is capable of war crimes, which implies that America is not automatically the good side, which collapses the foundational equation, which leaves an entire civilization's self-understanding without a floor. This is not a political disagreement. This is an existential threat to a constructed self. And people defend their constructed selves with the same ferocity they defend their lives. Sometimes more.

Ben Roberts-Smith's arrest does nothing to change my opinion that he was a war hero who courageously charged enemy machine guns to save others. The has been a witch hunt on our soldiers who put their lives on the line for this country. It's been going on over a decade and has already cost hundreds of millions of dollars, over allegations more than 20 years old in some cases. If we want people to sign up to serve this nation, then we need to take care of the people who sign up to put their life on the line.

Ask an American about the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. A substantial portion will tell you it was necessary. Tragic, but necessary. It ended the war. It saved lives. Hard choices in impossible circumstances. Now ask them how they would feel if another country had done it to an American city. Watch the framework collapse in real time. Suddenly "necessary" is not a category that applies. Suddenly there are no hard choices and impossible circumstances. Suddenly it is simply: a crime. An act of war. An atrocity. This is not hypocrisy in the ordinary sense. This is a two-tiered moral universe so deeply internalized that most people living inside it cannot see the structure at all. Violence done to Americans is atrocity by definition. Violence done by Americans requires context. Requires understanding. Requires a discussion of the strategic situation. This is the psychological furniture. This is what empire builds inside the people who benefit from it. And it is almost invisible from the inside.

@Selena_Augusta @Euunul @nxt888 Yes, Iran was directly attacked by the USA and their allied Middle East Underpants Gnomes in the little hats. Therefore, Iran would be justified in nuking NYC, Atlanta, Indianapolis, Washington DC or Los Angeles. Turn about is fair play, but also a bitch, innit?

Cool, cool. So you agree that nuclear armed pissrael, as a threat to it's neighbours, shouldn't be tolerated? Is this a call for dismantling the colonial project and returning the land to the Palestinians? How terribly progressive of you, Arsen.

🚨let me tell you why Iran just closed the Strait of Hormuz again because most people have no idea what happened today.. this morning the deal was simple.. stop the war.. reopen the strait.. let oil flow.. Iran did its part.. oil dropped 16%.. but Iran had one condition that mattered more than anything.. Lebanon must be included in the ceasefire.. it was point one in their 10-point plan.. Trump called it "workable".. hours later Israel bombed Beirut and Tyre.. Netanyahu said "this is not the end of the battle".. Trump confirmed Lebanon was never in the deal.. and Iran's parliament announced 3 out of 10 clauses were already violated.. so here's what actually happened.. Iran was told the deal covers Lebanon.. opened the strait based on that understanding.. then watched Lebanon get bombed while the White House said it was never covered.. Iran didn't break the ceasefire.. the ceasefire was broken around them.. and the strait is the only leverage they have to prove it matters.. 20% of the world's oil is being turned on and off like a game.. running the worl like a school project.. people are dying in Beirut.. markets are swinging billions by the hour.. and the people in charge can't even agree on what they signed this morning.. these are our leaders..
