Fighter planes returned from war with bullet holes. We can put more armor on them, but only a limited amount (due to weight or cost)
So where should we put the armor?
One might think: where the planes got shot at. So we'll put armor on the spots with bullet holes
(This is "survivorship bias", where we make conclusions based on that which survived because that's all we can see)
But the true answer is "put armor where there are no bullet holes". Because the planes which got shot in those deadly spots were unable to return
The internet meme is basically saying "we don't see evidence of the things which failed"

This is obviously really bad for Democrats and I can’t imagine the party moving forward without radical change but I cannot for the life of me figure out what that would entail

@Cherry_Pepis @ClickingSeason @AlecStapp I think you agree that losing e.g. 20 years is worse than losing 2 years
But are worried that people will use this point to dismiss the tragedy of losing 2 years. Which is a fair worry
English

@ClickingSeason @AlecStapp The fact that because someone "would've died anyway" sooner means they're death doesnt mean the same thing??

What if there's truth to that?

@HumpyAppleby How will it destroy civilization? Men won’t work unless they can get their dicks wet?
Men and accountability, sigh.

@JeevesThinks @RedBloodedGuy We aren't looking for realness, we are looking for internal consistency
The creators and viewers know that the show differs from reality when they use zombies
I don't think they know that when they show a girl take down a grown man
English

@RedBloodedGuy Zombies aren’t real, do you laugh at that aspect of the show too?

This reminds me of a talk by Rupert Spira. He said:
"Even those that are supposedly born and never lose touch with the knowledge of their true nature, they are not much help to humanity because they don't know how to meet anybody where they are
In order to be of help to humanity, you have to take the pathways yourself that you are then going to suggest to others
[Adi Da] claimed to have been born without forgetting his true nature. But he realized that he was of no use to humanity in that condition
So he, and this is just hearsay, he consciously forgot his own nature. So as to have to find pathways for himself back home,
In order to then make those pathways available to other people
And hence, he said
"I had to become like you in order for you to become like me""

An epidemic of autism"
The Role of Choice and Incarnation, as I have
repeatedly emphasizes that each personality chooses the circumstances of its incarnation, including physical conditions and limitations, as part of a broader learning or expressive purpose.
We choose the conditions, the environment, and the material for the drama ahead of time, before this life.
From this perspective, an individual who incarnates with traits associated with autism may have done so to explore consciousness in a uniquely focused or differentiated way, one that emphasizes inner experience, nonverbal communication, or a nonlinear relationship with time and sensory data.
Altered perception allows access to alternate realities. Physical reality is only one band of frequencies in a broader multidimensional reality.
We are using only a small portion of our potential. We have barely scratched the surface of the abilities we possesses.
Many autistic individuals report heightened sensitivity to sound, light, or emotion, traits that might indicate partial awareness of other layers of reality. What might be called "sensory overload" from a medical perspective could be reframed as multidimensional cross-talk, a sort of misalignment or fusion of channels between probable realities.
Society has labels vs. the Soul has purpose.
Their is a tendency of society and science to impose limiting labels. Le us encourage seeing beyond the outer condition.
We must learn to recognize the miraculous nature of our own being.
From this view, what we call “autism” could be a socially constructed label placed on a different mode of perception, not a dysfunction. We might suggest that many autistic individuals are mirrors for society, highlighting its own limitations in understanding consciousness, empathy, and communication beyond words.
There is a tendency, a current shifting collective consciousness. Global changes in consciousness often manifest physically. An apparent "epidemic" might not be a disease at all, but a shift in the kinds of consciousness choosing to be born at this time. We might say that more “focused,” “non-normative,” or inward-turning consciousnesses are incarnating now to challenge collective assumptions and force humanity to evolve its definitions of intelligence, communication, and love.
We are witnessing a transformation of the species, not a breakdown. These personalities are not errors of nature, but its harbingers. Their purpose is to remind us that reality is constructed not through consensus, but through inner alignment. 😀

It might be fun to explore different button combinations. Like if you play 2 notes 4 spaces apart, you get a major sound. But if you lower the high note by 1, now it's a minor sound. Or raise it by 1 and it's a totally different experience
Or try recreating simple melodies from songs you like

@FreedomFrWords The Piano fascinates me to no end. If ever there was a divine instrument! I just can’t get it going. The beginning is intimidating as you say. Maybe I need to try again 😃
English

I personally favor the piano. 10 fingers and all the notes are laid out in a line. Making it very free/intuitive to mess around on and notice how different note spacings feel
The high skill ceiling can be intimidating but maybe think of it as a xylophone with more potential 😂
Regarding simpler instruments, the harp seems good. Maybe the harmonica? And any percussion is based imo
English

@FreedomFrWords Oh yes definitely. I’ve been wondering which instrument could be learned intuitively? Like simple bongo drums can, but what else? A harp? 😃
English

@keysmashbandit I think this is true, but it has also been coded by people lying to me
English

"No great genius can explain how he does it
Yes, he says, "I have learned the techniques to express myself
Because I had something in me that had to come out
...But then, beyond that, I'm afraid I can't tell you how it was
That I used that technique to express this mysterious thing
I wanted to show you.""

A quick normie google search suggests the Russian military is worse off than 3 years ago, but I don't simply trust that
Noted
English

I’m a descendant of four displaced Finns from Carelia. I am by no means a friend to Russia. I am a big friend of facts and logic, however, and as far as I can tell the situation is about as follows:
Russia is the aggressor in Ukraine, obviously. But NATO creeping east and the US messing with Kyiv’s politics didn’t help. This went on for years and it kept going on after Russia intervened the first time in 2014. Ukrainians are screwed through no fault of theirs. But Zelenskyy’s not so clean, though. He overreached, probably with Biden’s crew pushing him. He overplayed his hand multiple times. Russia’s got 100 million more people, a top-three military, and nukes. Ukraine winning without dragging the entire European continent into war? Doubt it.
Even if Russia pulls out, Ukraine’s already wrecked. Lives gone, cities ruined, millions of refugees, some of whom will never return. The country’s in a bad state already. Russia could even leave and still get what it wants. (De-militarized zones and whatnot) Ukraine in NATO? That’s probably Putin’s red line, push it, and Europe’s at war. People say he’s out to expand, but do we know? Cut a deal, end the fighting. If he sticks to it, fine, but this time we have to stick to it too. If not, there’s your answer. Ukraine kinda loses either way.
What did I get wrong?
English

@DrGhastly86 @aki_being Is it working for them?
I expected big powerful Russia to sweep Ukraine no problem, and have been surprised by their inability
You're suggesting they actually could have done that, but this slow war of attrition is in their best interests?
English

I admit hearing that take from someone who isn't one-sided and ideological gave me pause
So I guess the question is, what happens if we keep this up?
Can it end with Ukraine keeping its territory and Russia withdrawing?
And of course: nukes
Maybe the Russian military can't win without them. And maybe they won't resort to using them or even threatening using them. But they have them. And getting this wrong is exponentially worse than what we've dealt with so far
English

Formerly, I'd have no disagreement
Russia is the bad guy. Team Ukraine. Obviously. (Even though the west is not guilt-free.) Unless, all that approach does is prolong a war Ukraine can't win, causing more deaths before an inevitable Russian win
But I was talking with a buddy yesterday who believes that the Russian military and economy is much worse off than we'd previously thought,
And continuing our approach of funding Ukraine and sanctioning Russia is not futile. We just need to keep it up until Russia can't
