@StasisGame In 2012 I shipped my very first game which completely failed. I found one or two small let's play on YouTube. Watching the players getting bored just destroyed me, as I saw the raw truth that i missed the point somewhere...

Watching streamers play our games is one of the most nausea inducing stressful things I do. I watch them a lot in the days after a launch, often taking notes - and 9 times out of 10 I have to mute the streams just to clear my brain. If I can watch a recorded stream it’s better, cos I can pause and skip.. It’s a little like hearing a recording of your own voice - but it’s reading your diary out to a crowd of people you went to school with. It takes a while to get over it.., I can watch Stasis streams now. I can sorta watch Beautiful Desolation streams. Bone Totem is still harrowing on my nervous system.

I remembered a convo I had with my wife (girlfriend at the time) where I was working a full time job and doing game stuff on the side and just losing all my free time that could be put towards spending time with her or my family. I told her I felt like I’m running out of steam to keep doing both and if I like ever wanted to idk do game development full time I was running out of time to make it happen. Decided I was going to try like a game jam and just go all in on it to really feel out if any of this was going anywhere. Entered the BIGMODE game jam where we made arctic eggs. it didn’t win anything but the reception was so positive it felt worth it to make it a full thing. Released it on steam a few months later and it did great. Complete coincidence (I think lol) but very shortly after I was let go from my full time job. But it wasn’t as scary as it should’ve been because arctic eggs gave enough financial security to last me awhile. I’ve been a full time game dev ever since, signed with a great publisher, and I still have no free time for my friends or family.

@cpaskiks Difficile de choisir 1 jeu parmi les jeux mais c'est un prétendant au titre sans nul doute. Pour l'impact émotionnel, on peut y ajouter SOMA, Outer Wilds. Pour d'autres aspects des jeux comme The Witness ou Deus Ex 1 sont aussi au sommet, question d'approche, de sensibilité.

En vrai de vrai Silent Hill 2 c’est ptetre le meilleur jeu de l’histoire

@GamingDistant I already know about it, but maybe your warning is for others... Sometimes I worry that by being chronically online, I rarely enjoy actual surprises and "a-ha!" moments anymore...

Saw some (heated) discussion about whether or not video game manuals have value. Even though I am fine with figuring out games, I still appreciate manuals. I like the images in Super Mario Bros. 2's and 3's showcasing all the stuff Mario can do, even with only two action buttons.

@VGMaps The virtual manual will unlock your progress, do not read the physical one at all before having completed the game. That would be like having all powers at beginning in a Metroid. The game has more secrets than the "big one". Enjoy it like the kid you once were, you'll understand

@GamingDistant Haven't played Tunic (yet), got it for free on my PS5, but might get it on Steam. I know about the manual and had the "twist" spoiled for me regarding it, so I was thinking of buying the physical manual from Fangamer. @kmiAGLR Je l'ai fini récemment, j'ai l'impression qu'ils ont tout allongé et surligné pour rien. La "mise en scène" et la D.A. deviennent vraiment banales, ça ressemble à n'importe quel gros jeu. C'est pas forcément mauvais, mais je trouve ça vain d'avoir refait le jeu comme ça.

Mon cerveau est resté bloqué sur Silent Hill 2 depuis que j'ai à nouveau fini le jeu il y a quelques jours, je ne pense plus qu'à ça comme à la période où j'ai découvert le jeu pour la première fois.

This is the issue with many people regarding the ending of LOST. You can dislike it for your own reasons, but thinking it’s the worst ending because “it was all a dream” is just wrong when it was explained in the finale itself, everything was real.
