When European powers arrived, Muslims were forced to confront an uncomfortable reality, a civilization that had once led the world was now being administered, humiliated, and restructured by people they considered culturally inferior in almost every meaningful sense. That shock produced two camps and both misdiagnosed the problem, so both prescribed the wrong medicine. Response 1 - The Modernists These were the Western-educated Muslim intellectuals. Al-Afghani, Muhammad Abduh and their intellectual descendants. Their diagnosis: Muslims are backward because they rejected reason and progress. Their solution: absorb Western rationalism, science, and institutional models. Adapt Islam to modernity. The problem is that they didn’t actually develop an Islamic methodology, they just borrowed Western epistemology wholesale and then tried to justify it with Islamic vocabulary. They were thinking in Western categories while speaking Islamic language. The result was hollow. You got modernized Muslim states that were structurally Western, culturally confused, and spiritually empty. Turkey, Egypt, the whole postcolonial experiment. Response 2; the traditionalists Their diagnosis: the modernists are selling out. The solution is to return purely to classical scholarship, reject Western influence entirely, and hold the line. Not wrong but it has a fatal flaw: it confuses preserving the tradition with engaging reality. The classical scholars were great precisely because they engaged their reality creatively. Imitating them means doing what they did thinking hard not just repeating what they said. Traditionalism ended up producing scholars who were technically brilliant inside the classical framework but completely unable to address modern political economy, international relations, or institutional design with anything original. Both responses had the same root problem neither rebuilt the Islamic methodology of knowledge. The modernists abandoned it. The traditionalists fossilized it. Neither produced a living, breathing intellectual tradition capable of generating original answers to new questions. This is the framework for understanding every Muslim political failure. The GCC states? Modernist template: Western institutional structure, Islamic branding. The jihadist movements? Traditionalist reaction that can destroy but cannot build. Neither has the intellectual infrastructure to actually govern or lead a civilization. The Muslim world is still fighting a 19th century debate while the 21st century is happening around it.

@singhafied Doesn't punjabi have many dialects, which one is the original one? Punjabi language is a noisy language, I never saw a Punjabi speaker speaking Punjabi calmly,politely & professionally. Urdu has an intrinsic nature of calmness & professional credential. Hopefully,I'm not biased

Switching to colonial-darbari languages like Urdu-Hindi from native languages lowers IQ by minimum 10 points and more Core Hindi-Urdu belt is at par with Sub Saharan Africa now. Punjabi is the most spoken language in Pakistan, yet it was never properly supported in schools or official work. Urdu was prioritised, and Punjabi was sidelined. When a state ignores its own majority language, decline is inevitable this is the result of Urdufication.
