The new money on Patrick Mahomes’ deal is worth $239.05 million, with the total value now at $504.75 million from 2026-33, with the first four years being guaranteed at signing. Beginning in 2027, when the new money begins, the deal averages $64M per year, setting a new NFL record for average annual value.

When they signed Higgins and Chase after paying Burrow every fanbase acted as if they would never be able to do business again, yet here they are restructuring contracts to make room for the massive one year deal for Dexter Lawrence. The example of staying cap compliant and never paying players is the patriots and what happened when Brady left? They ended up in the same exact place as teams that kicked the can down the road.
