Whatโs up with Americans wanting to support a team from England instead of your local team? The Premier League is great, watch it, but pick your own local MLS team, go to the stadium and have a good time. Soccer isnโt going to grow here if you just watch foreign leagues

The US will never develop better soccer talent because kids in America would rather play football, basketball, baseball, and maybe even hockey.

If our best athletes played soccer the US soccer team would be *markedly* better, obviously. With the full developmental exception I described above. What other dominant country loses their best potential athletes to [multiple] other sports? That doesnโt mean thatโs the only thing going on in the USMNT development arc or current state. Or even the most important thing to realistically alter it. Two entirely separate things. But it doesnโt change the immutable fact that the ideal body type & makeup core athletes that would fill our โbestโ fit had they been raised in that sport are all playing that sport. Because theyโre not. Far from it. A percentage do, a large percentage do not. It is it what it is. That article was not persuasive, misses the point.

It being a โbusinessโ is why we will never advance beyond our current level. You seem to not understand that we have priced underprivileged kids out of the cheapest sport on earth. We put them through the motions in these little $3500 child club teams. We will never progress.
