@ItsRobbAllen The ultimate trolley problem is: you have already killed so many people just driving a trolley; do you keep going because it is unfair to those who perished in your onslaught, or do you stop because you do not want to cause even more carnage?

New Trolley problem has arrived, only it's dumber. Pres Red - 100% chance of living. Blue - Non-zero chance of dying. It has nothing to do with empathy for others unless you're stuck on suicidal empathy, which is YOUR fault, not mine. There is ZERO logical reason for ANYONE to press blue. NONE.
vittorio@IterIntellectus

why would anyone even press blue?!?

Even when I told them about how casinos use EV to make you go broke they did not really budge. To me, a very peculiar pov. But also a very humane one at the same time. I think it boils down to expectancy; a 50/50 shot of becoming self sufficient, or I am happy, in my lane and I do not need the 50 million.

Most people do not reason through question/problems. Gut feelings. Which I am not against at all. But for "quandaries" such as this you need to reason through it. Nowhere does it state that people pressing the Red button will perish. I had a similar conversation with my colleagues about. Simple question: you have a button in front of you; if you press it you either lose all your money or gain 50 million (or whatever I said). Almost everyone said they would not press the button. Of course you would press it; the 100k you have now with a 50/50 of gaining 49.9 million. When I told them about EV they were still hesitant. Something in our human psyche wants to hold on to what they have, even though the proposition of a far greater benefit compared to what you have currently far outweighs/benefits your current "circumstances" humans treasure what they have. In a way, it is dumb, but also shows how humanity (or our soul?) is shaped. Keep close to your heart what is dear and not venture into the "unknown".

Definitely a possibility as well. Although I do think that the hype of AI will (or is already happening) dampen the expectations of those outside of the sphere and return back to companies that can provide them what they need, instead of vibing it themselves (whether that be the frontier companies, or some third party provider that is in their niche). In any case, this whole LLM/AI period we have and still are going through is a massive zeitgeist shift/turning point.

@HamSlamous @DavidOndrej1 That's a real scenario. Although I believe there's so much "normal" demand, so we'll be fine, no pop, no deflate - just some bumps on the road of course.

I cannot believe some people are STILL using GPT 5.5 it's been like 12 hours... if you haven't moved all your token spend to DeepSeek V4 by now you really are falling behind

That was the agent harness hype, right. People with nothing/little programming experience vibecoding their way into running 10+ agents that did what exactly? Trying to figure out how to find an edge in the crypto market (you're up against market makers who will own you) or try and make you some product that you might be able to sell (but Anthropic/OpenAi are already doing this and that). I believe this is what is going to burst the bubble, or rather slowly deflate it. The frontier LLM providers are facing the realization that they do not have the capacity to service all the people using their models (one of the things I absolutely do not fault Anthropic fault for trying to stop). This is just my opinion, but the hype will slowly deflate, not burst. "Normies" will realize that they cannot build a $10k business with a one-shot prompt and give up. We'll get to a point where things will start to stabilize. Costs will go up, consumption will go down. Developers like us will continue to use AI to help us debug stuff, clank some easy scripts that we cannot be bothered to write ourselves etc. And there will be a slow climb towards AI becoming the norm. Anyway, sorry for the long reply; just rambling/conjecturing about what I think is going to happen.

@HamSlamous @DavidOndrej1 i see. i actually agree with you on how you work with ai. Same here i’m using $100 claude plan but im not running tens agents in parallel and i don’t see the point of doing that. you cant build anything useful with so much autopilot. thanks for your answer)

@DavidOndrej1 Bro, just let your clanker read your ginormous codebase and ask it to add a feature. Nothing can go wrong. The researchers at Anthropic told us; and you know how that turned out. Slop upon slop, with an extra slop on top.

I know David was insincere, I did not know you were. My reasoning is quite simple; I do not one shot "production" ready apps. I use LLM's a lot, do not get me wrong, but I believe I can learn from what an LLM writes, or also correct them. So my workflow is probably not that of others. When I was on the $200 Anthropic plan I never came close to reaching any limit. I don't even turn on auto-edits; I want to see what my clanker is trying to cook. That makes me less productive in the AI sphere, but I also learn a lot more in spaces I am not familiar with (front end web design, server infrastructure etc.). I guess those stackoverflow roots are still there in my brain lol. Yeah, I do let my LLM's cook, but I wanna know what they're cooking. I vibecode now and then when I know it is something I could built myself, but going things I am not "very" familiar with I wanna know "what's in the broth".

@HamSlamous @DavidOndrej1 I believe the author's post was sarcastic, and so was mine, but if you are serious, what's the problem with paying $200? Isn't it worth it? You are obviously not a student.

@arsham_manukyan @DavidOndrej1 Thorough testing, when I was using 3.2, lots of prompting, only cost me a total of less than a dollar btw. Slowly getting out of MVP but ain't no way I am going to pay $200 a month to Anthropic/OpenAi anymore.

Hard to keep up man. I think the new focus will really be on token consumption. The "frontier models" eat up so much context. That's why I built my own agents. Got an assistant agent I built "myself" that is/was hooked up to DeepSeek 3.2 with Kimi for images. Will be switching over to DeepSeek 4.0. I've been keeping my Claude/OpenAI subscriptions at the lowest level.

The agency owners who figure out Hermes in the next 90 days are going to look like geniuses in 2027. The problem is most agency owners don't have time to figure out the install, where to start, or what to actually hand it first. So my team built an 83-page playbook that does it for you. Inside: — The 5 daily prompts that turn it into a second brain — Plain English setup for Mac, Linux, and Android — How to lock it down without torching client data — 8 copy-paste workflows across reporting, outreach, sales, and ops — The cron trick that drops token spend by 90% Your competitors are sleeping on this. Comment HERMES and I'll send it.
GREG ISENBERG@gregisenberg

how to set up hermes agent step by step. built-in memory, 40+ tools, works on your phone, and what to think of hermes vs openclaw: 1. hermes is a personal AI agent that runs in your terminal. think of it like open claw but with built-in memory, 40+ tools out of the box, and 90% cheaper token costs. you install it with one command. 2. the 3 problems with open claw that hermes solves: no memory (you keep repeating yourself), constant gateway restarts, and zero visibility into what you're spending on tokens. 3. hermes remembers everything. every completed task gets saved to memory. it searches through past logs to find solutions. over time it literally gets smarter at your specific workflows. 4. connect it to open router. you see exact costs per model per task. free models rotate weekly. one founder went from $130 every five days on open claw to $10 on hermes. same output. 5. it comes preloaded with skills. apple notes, imessage, find my, browser, web search, image generation, cron jobs. no hunting for plugins. 6. connect it to obsidian so it reads your entire vault. connect it to gstack for your dev environment. create custom skills for your specific workflows. 7. the biggest money saver: have it write code once for recurring tasks. then it runs without burning tokens every time. stop paying an LLM to do the same scrape or report daily. 8. run it on android via telegram. name your agents. talk to them like coworkers. in this episode imran shows you how to set this up. 9. you can run it bare metal, in docker, or serverless on modal. pick your risk level. i begged @imranye to come on @startupideaspod and walk through the full installation live. he made it impossibly clear. if you've heard of Hermes Agent and want the clearest explanation of how to get set up like a pro let me know what you want me to cover on the next ep this is the best personal agent setup video on the internet right now. watch
