I'm pregnant with my first son and my in-laws are furious.
Why?
Because I don't want to give him a name that starts with K.
In my husband's family, every male for generations has had a K-name.
My MIL even handed me a list of approved options.
When I said I wasn't sure, the room went silent.
My FIL told me it's family tradition.
I asked why.
His answer:
"Because that's how we've always done it."
The name isn't even the real issue.
They've already planned my unborn son's football career too.
Jerseys.
Camps.
The whole thing.
I told them our child gets to be his own person.
If he loves football, great.
If he loves theater, music, art, racing, or something else entirely, that's great too.
Apparently that's me "destroying the family legacy."
The funny part?
My husband doesn't care about the tradition at all.
He just wants us to choose a name we both love.
Somehow I'm still the villain.
