On election day in Budapest, GRU agents disguised as Ukrainians are reportedly planning to seize buildings in the city center. Ukrainian intelligence warns the operation uses former Berkut fighters — the unit that violently dispersed Euromaidan protesters in 2014 before fleeing to Russia. Their role: pose as Ukrainians, manufacture chaos, and hand a losing Orbán the pretext to declare a state of emergency and annul the results. Former Berkut commander Serhiy Kusyuk is reportedly already in Budapest. Russia isn't just fighting in Ukraine. It's running operations inside EU capitals.

Can someone explain what's the interest of the USA in Hungary? Orban is a pro russian politician, Orban is demanding that Hungary buys only Russian energy products, refusing to diversify and buy American ones. It's like everything against American interests.

I am not trying to make my Catholic friends, who I love, angry with this statement. But this entire episode is starting to explain to me why so many Americans were concerned about a Catholic president for so long. I have no interest in Rome trying to dictate American policy. And if it continues to loudly make its opinions heard on our foreign policy, I believe they’re going to find a lot of American Protestants feeling a lot less ecumenical than we have been in the more recent past.
