Positive Change
@HappyHatton
A mother with a keen interest in family law, I hope to become a family law barrister. Positive change today for children equals a brighter future for tomorrow.

@TerryGalloway As a mother with children in care, I often wonder if families realise just how special those moments truly are, it's so easy to get lost in it until you lose it. I'd do anything to go back to these moments. I'm praying il get to do it again one day with mine.

@N_A_I_R_O @article_39 As a mother with 2 children in long term foster care I'm heartbroken and praying this dosent happen. The IRO is only person who has truly represented my children in the revolving door of social workers they've had (4 in 3 1/2 yrs). Each new sw fails to read files throughly.
English

A summary by Carolyne Willow @article_39 .
‘Removing independent reviewing officers (IROs) from all children in care is a drastic and dangerous move. IROs are experienced social workers who scrutinise local authorities’ care and decision-making in respect of individual children’
English

@jsnbarn The IRO regually reminds SW about what she's supposed to be doing and what help My children need, sadly the sw isn't the most reliable due to the 31 cases on her load she often forgets to inform family of appointnents, meeting or contacts times and dates. IRO is investigating
English

@jsnbarn As a mother of 2 children in care, I think IROs are the only people who have children's best interests at heart, my children have had 4 sws and 3 IROs current one is excellent and regular sees my children previous 2 never went to meet them. I'm thankful that she's speaking 4 them

@tummumcic I wish, sadly my experience has been that foster carers think mothers are bad people, my children have had 6 so far in 4 years only 1 of them has spoken to me like I'm a human, the rest have spoken to me like I'm a monster and a danger, I'm not I just had no money or support .
English

I wonder if it crosses foster carers minds that there’s a mum out their that doesn’t stop thinking of their child. One that wants to die, one that can’t function, one the cries to sleep every night?
Not slating carers btw. How does it affect them? How do they deal with that?

@MartinBarrow For social workers to allow children to be children without trying to force them to grow up, my children entered care age 5 &6 there now 9 & 10 and sound like social workers, this is not how 9 &10 year olds should talk, they assess there own behaviours, this is not normal.
English

@asye2014 @MartinBarrow This needs to be done sooner rather than later my 9yr old has been in care almost 4yrs, phycologist said she needs 1-2-1 councilling Art therapy will not work. She's about to start round 4 of Art Therapy 🤷♀️. It's not worked behaviour is getting worse she's on foster carers no.6.
English

@MartinBarrow Recommendations from “expert” assessments for children and families have the services ready to implement those recommendations. Eg Forms of therapy not available on the NHS. This needs to be in place and signed off prior to any orders being grated.

@natalyanderson I'm happy to see it's being talked about by proffeshionals, hopefully things will change. Thousands of women go through this everyday and it's soul destroying.

@damian17236445 @louisetickle @BBCPanorama @DXWQC @Katiemawdor @BBCEmilyUnia @GavinWilliamson @NickGibbUK @nadhimzahawi I tried to comment on your post a few weeks ago to say judge sharpe is a brilliant judge. He's very fair and dosent allow any nonsense in his court. I had him for 2 years, best judge we've had. If you Google him he's not shy about putting LAs in there place and publishing it.
English

@louisetickle @BBCPanorama your work in court & programme last night helped me today, Judge was aware. @DXWQC thank you for work on Human Rights. @Katiemawdor @BBCEmilyUnia @GavinWilliamson @NickGibbUK @nadhimzahawi discussed you all in court with the Judge. Thank you all ✌️🇬🇧

@natalyanderson Thank you for reading it, I didn't realise how much I had to say until I started. But I hope it encourages other people to speak out too. I'm shaking and feeling very emotional but I feel so much lighter, it's such a heavy weight to carry mentally and emotionally.

@HappyHatton I have read every word of your story here. 💔💔💔💔💔💔
