I think there is enough information about perpetrators but not enough inertia to act in a meaningful way! Not enough commitment to change in a meaningful way and too much patriarchal hysteria about women lying about DFSV - and the push for to get ‘over it’ in court systems

4 women in Australia died on the weekend. 2 allegedly killed by male partners & 2 allegedly killed by their sons. Women’s lives matter. How many times should communities take to the streets to demand action? Yes, we have seen increased national & state based commitments in recent months but let’s be clear - these steps are a start but funding & actions commensurate with the scale of the crisis are desperately needed. That evening, her partner allegedly ended her life. Not only is he accused of murdering the woman, he's also charged with raping her. She is the 40th Australian woman killed this year and she was the first of four women killed over the weekend of June 1-2. As I write, a total of 43 women have been lost to violence in 2024. The woman had travelled to the Darwin suburb of Coconut Grove from her homeland of Maningrida. The woman was a respected, valued and loved community member and also training in the ADF's North West Mobile Force. This is a Male problem, pls stop trying to deflect to women. Women don't need to be re-housed they need the male arrested and charged ,tried in a woman friendly Court and woman friendly legal system. We are faced with death of women at the hands of men. NOT misdemeanours like littering. STOP STALLING PROTECT THE VICTIMS ARREST PERPETRATORS

For the second time today, I am recording the murder of another Australian woman - yet again at the hands of another Australian man. A 78-year-old woman was found dead at her home in Gordon, ACT, this morning. Her husband has since been taken into custody and is assisting police with their investigation. He has not been charged but police have confirmed the woman was allegedly murdered. She is the 41st woman killed this year and the second woman killed in the past 48 hours. Of the women killed this year, all but one have been lost to acts of male violence and almost all have known their alleged killer.

My first patient, back in 2004 was a woman who tried to kill herself after being repeatedly told by her partner “just kill yourself!…You’re useless, what’s the point?” We treated her by labelling her mentally ill. Since then, I would see women every week who’ve been told this.
