Heavy rainfall and flooding in Angola have affected thousands of people, damaging homes and vital infrastructure and increasing risks as more rain is forecast. With support from @IFRC_DREF, the Angola Red Cross is launching a three-month response in Cunene Province to assist at least 5,000 people and host communities with shelter, WASH and livelihoods support, while ensuring protection, inclusion and community engagement are integrated throughout the operation. @IFRCAfrica #DREFinAction

Across #Lebanon, @RedCrossLebanon volunteers and staff continue to stand by communities affected by the escalation, providing emergency medical care and support to families facing difficult conditions. The @IFRC continues to support these efforts, by allocating funds through the @IFRC_DREF and extending its Emergency Appeal for Lebanon, helping strengthen the response and ensure that assistance can reach people in need across the country.

Food insecurity in #Cameroon has deepened under the combined pressure of climate shocks, conflict, economic hardship and health risks. A recent Cameroon Red Cross Society (@CroixRougeCam) assessment confirmed severe needs across the Far North, North and East regions, with many families facing hunger, poor food consumption and empty food stocks. The @IFRC_DREF response will deliver immediate, life-saving support through cash assistance, water, sanitation and hygiene services, health and nutrition support, and community-based protection and engagement activities. @IFRCAfrica #DREFinAction

I am deeply concerned about the worsening humanitarian crisis in Lebanon following the recent escalation of hostilities. One Lebanese Red Cross volunteer was killed, three wounded, and an ambulance damaged during rescue missions. Despite these dangers, the Lebanese Red Cross @RedCrossLebanon continues to provide emergency medical services across Lebanon, including the transport of injured persons to hospitals. Its activities also include blood services, the deployment of Mobile Medical Units to deliver essential healthcare services, and the distribution of assistance to displaced people in shelter centers. The IFRC has released emergency funds from its @IFRC_DREF to support the @RedCrossLebanon response efforts. Civilians are in dire need of safety and humanitarian aid. It is crucial that they, along with humanitarian workers, including our staff and volunteers, are protected and have access to essential services.

The @IFRC is working with local teams affected by the recent escalation of hostilities in Middle East to support a timely humanitarian response as needs rise. In Iran, the Iranian Red Crescent Society @Iranian_RCS has mobilized thousands of responders to deliver search and rescue, medical aid, and emergency relief across the country. To support the response, the IFRC has already allocated CHF 1.5 million from its Disaster Response Emergency Fund to support immediate lifesaving activities and operational readiness while international support is mobilised through the Emergency Appeal recently launched. In Lebanon, the Lebanese Red Cross @RedCrossLebanon continues to provide vital humanitarian services across Lebanon, supporting people affected by the ongoing hostilities and those displaced from their homes. #Zambia is facing a high-risk cholera outbreak, with Lusaka now the main hotspot as cases continue to rise. A severe snowstorm has swept across #Mongolia since 21 February, bringing extreme cold, heavy snowfall and strong winds that have put lives, livelihoods and herder communities at serious risk. Through the @IFRC_DREF, the Mongolian Red Cross Society (@MongolianRed) will support 1,000 of the most vulnerable herder households (around 3,700 people) with cash assistance, livelihood support, mental health and psychosocial support, and strengthened basic health and first aid services to help families meet urgent needs and reduce further risks. @IFRCAsiaPacific #DREFinAction

In response to the evolving situation in #Iran, the @ifrc is working in close coordination with the Iranian Red Crescent Society (@Iranian_RCS) to support people affected by the complex emergency. Families across #Colombia are facing the devastating impact of severe floods after an unusual cold front brought days of relentless rain in early February. Homes, livelihoods and entire communities have been affected, with Córdoba and Antioquia among the hardest hit. Through this @IFRC_DREF operation, the Colombian Red Cross (@cruzrojacol) will support affected people with cash, health, WASH, livelihoods, protection and community engagement assistance to help communities recover with dignity. @IFRC_es #DREFinAction

We continue to follow closely the rapid and concerning developments in the Middle East. The @IFRC is working with the affected National Societies to support a timely humanitarian response as needs rise. We have immediately activated our Disaster Response Emergency Fund @IFRC_DREF to support the response in Iran. Across the region, teams from our IFRC network are already on the ground, providing urgent medical care, transporting the wounded, and supporting emergency health services as needs grow. Important to preserve humanitarian space so humanitarian and medical personnel can operate safely and reach people in need.

For more than three decades, the @IFRC Afghanistan has been supporting the work of the Afghan Red Crescent - @ARCSAfghanistan . Active since 1990, the IFRC delegation has played a key role in disaster response, health services, and resilience-building programmes across Afghanistan. It works to strengthen accountability and organizational development and mobilise support through Disaster Response Emergency Funds (@IFRC_DREF) and Emergency Appeals in response to floods, droughts, population movements, and earthquakes in the country. IFRC continues to focus on saving lives, strengthening localisation, and promoting human dignity.

As needs continue to evolve, the @ifrc network remains fully mobilized to support affected communities in Iran. Through an allocation of 1.5 million CHF from @IFRC_DREF, immediate resources are being made available to reinforce emergency health services and ensure timely humanitarian assistance. Working in close coordination with the @Iranian_RCS, this operation will support 200,000 people over nine months, strengthening response capacity and sustaining lifesaving services where they are needed most. The safety and protection of humanitarian workers must always be upheld to allow them to carry out their mission safely and effectively.

Heavy floods have deepened vulnerabilities across northwest and coastal #Syria, disrupting daily life and further straining already fragile living conditions in displacement sites and host communities. With support from the @IFRC_DREF, immediate relief efforts are being mobilised to ensure families can access essential assistance, including shelter support and urgent needs. Early and flexible funding makes rapid response possible when communities need it most.

In Tripoli, #Lebanon, collapsing, unsafe buildings are forcing families from their homes and deepening humanitarian needs. With 114 buildings already declared unsafe, thousands face displacement, stress, and uncertainty. Through this @IFRC_DREF operation, the @RedCrossLebanon will help communities access safe temporary shelter, essential household items, and life-saving support over the next few months. @IFRC_MENA #DREFinAction

A dengue outbreak declared in the Cook Islands on 22 May 2025 remains active across Rarotonga and outer islands (Aitutaki, Atiu, Mauke, Mangaia). As of 6 Feb 2026, 893 cases have been confirmed, straining health services (especially in remote communities). The Cook Islands Red Cross Society is mobilising volunteers, distributing prevention kits and prioritising high-risk households. Severe flooding since 7 Feb 2026 has hit Idleb, Lattakia, Tartous and parts of Hama in #Syria, inundating homes, displacement sites and key infrastructure — leaving many families without shelter and with limited access to basic needs and health services. Flash floods triggered by heavy rain, wind and hail struck #Rwanda on 31 January 2026, damaging homes, crops and health infrastructure, especially in South Province (Gisagara, Nyaruguru, Kamonyi). Many families are still sheltering with host communities and urgently need emergency shelter, household items and sanitation support. With more than 50,000 people affected, including 22,842 evacuated and nearly 10,000 homes destroyed, local action has been critical.
