I spent a while working on this piece where I look at the implications of the finding that lower-income counties delegate complete tasks to the models rather than engage them collaboratively. I've grown even more curious about what we can do with the data frontier developers' are

In a new blog post, our Research Associate @MichelleMalonza analyses global AI usage data from Anthropic and OpenAI and argues that it shows critical AI risks could be more likely to materialise in GS countries ilinaprogram.org/blog/automatio…

I received news today that my paper on how U.S. negligence law should address the foreseeability of harms caused by AI agents will be published in the Journal of Tort Law 🙂 Started this paper in July 2025, worked worked super hard on it, failed a lot, and had to wait ages

On March 3, I made an expert presentation to Geneva’s multinational community about thinking about (and building) frontier AI evaluative capacity. In case you’re interested, here’s a short blog post capturing the session simoninstitute.ch/blog/post/glob…

Thanks to the Simon Institute, I’ll be in Geneva (and in a suit) on Monday March 3 to present to diplomats about how countries can coordinate to build AI evaluation capacity. I’m interested in talking AI safety/ AI governance stuff if you’re in Geneva - Hit me up.

We @ILINAProgram also co-hosted an event moderated by the inimitable @MichelleMalonza on safe AI for the continent. There's a lot to think about, especially as pertains to integrating these systems into infrastructure. Safety evals seem largely non-negotiable TBH.

It was pretty great attending the AI Impact Summit. The side events were especially useful, specifically thinking of the AI Safety Connect Day and the Global South Safety Network Dinner. Also, India is an amazing place with an equally amazing visa process :)

Most AI eval work focuses on resource-rich Western countries. This paper shifts the conversation to Africa, arguing that frontier AI deployments here face unique risks that current safety evaluations are not designed to detect. It's an incredibly thought-out paper, please read!!!

We have a new paper out! We assess the case for Africa-centric AI safety evaluations. I'm pretty excited about it, particularly because it tries to handle questions I've also had about the practicalities of conducting evaluations. arxiv.org/abs/2602.13757

How should/do we evaluate frontier AI systems? How do/should we interpret the evidence? And how does/should that evidence constrain deployment? Oftentimes, these questions are answered from a narrow lens. In our new paper, we make the case for Africa-centric AI safety evals.
