Older Macs, especially if you’re on a newer OS, utilize temporal dithering, too. Same with newer versions of iOS and Android. It’s a software-based trick that flickers between 2 adjacent colors to trick the brain into perceiving a color that the display cannot natively reproduce. Not saying that’s 100% your issue, as PWM is also a factor, but it’s an issue on Windows 11, new versions of MacOS, and a lot of LCDs and OLEDs.

@IllAdvised @laramecfs @liamsLCjourney interestingly, I have a MUCH harder time with my PC monitor + this 10ish-yr-old macbook than I ever did with my newer ‘21 mac (broke but I’ll never be able to afford to replace bc I’ll never work) + phone. at least I know I can tolerate SOME screens, just too poor to buy them lol

Very curious to hear how you were able to tolerate your laptop again. @laramecfs @liamsLCjourney I have long COVID and was interviewed recently about my screen intolerance. There are flicker techniques being used by Apple and Microsoft called PWM and temporal dithering that trigger severe symptoms in a lot of us after COVID. androidcentral.com/phones/oneplus…

GRAPHIC: CBP officers shoot another person in Minneapolis at point-blank range. Footage obtained exclusively by BT shows federal officers on Nicollet Ave. on top of a man on the ground, before one CBP officer pulls his gun and repeatedly fires. Witnesses say that after the shooting CBP then walked down the block filming bystanders. Nothing else is known at this point about what preceded this, the identity of the man shot, or his current condition. FBI agents and an ambulance are at the scene.
