3 engineers walked into Layo yesterday for a final round.
No LeetCode. No whiteboard. No "design Twitter in 45 minutes"
We gave them a real product problem. Build it. Ship it. That's the interview.
Then we played Catan
3 hours. Longest road got stolen twice.
Winner got the offer
HR people will hate this. That's fine. We don't have HR. lol
Williamsburg. In-person. dm me if you think you got what it takes to hang

I can promise you one thing,
we are not the same
John Allen@Jall_n
this guy has 4 parallel claude coding agents in a self-healing loop and a recurring chipotle order on doordash via clawdbot scheduled every 6 hours. this is what shipping looks like.

I'm excited to announce Layo (@layoapps / uselayo.com)
The world's first platform for creating scalable ChatGPT apps.
AI platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude are becoming the main interface for how people use software and connect with brands. AI-native apps built inside these platforms will become the new standard.
At Layo, I'm building the infrastructure that lets product teams move fast, an intuitive app designer, a flexible data layer, dynamic MCP optimization, and analytics that show how users actually engage with their AI-native apps.
Fast-moving teams are already building their ChatGPT apps with us to get ahead before the app store goes live. If you want to own the best ChatGPT app in your market, reach out or schedule a demo for early access.

@RKalinovskyy i'm bullish on chatGPT being a new place where people purchase

@ImDrewL Are you building a chatgpt extension? I don't see that

I’ve been talking with a lot of people about ChatGPT apps and I keep hearing the same three points:
- Everyone thinks they’ll be massive
- No one knows when adoption will inflect
- No one is sure which apps will win
Here’s my take.
ChatGPT apps mark the shift from deterministic product experiences to adaptive, AI-braided UX. The goal is to serve user needs in the context of real workflows. Over a billion people now use AI weekly across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, DeepSeek, and others. That’s billions of moments where an app can become the answer to a prompt.
Most teams are still thinking in terms of content when they should be thinking in terms of function—both as a marketing advantage and a product-led growth engine.
The best AI apps will combine:
- strong, purposeful UI
- functional utility
- clean data
- actual problem-solving
If you build the best app for your market (or prompt set), you become the default source of truth. Users won’t say “ChatGPT helped me,” they’ll say “this app solved my problem.”
When will AI-native apps take off? It doesn’t matter. If you plan to be relevant, start building now.
Which apps will be used most? Many. Look at the diversity of tools you already use as a consumer and as a worker. Every vertical, every workflow, every pain point can become an app when the problem is best solved with UX. And most problems are solved better through UI than through raw text.
The opportunity is wide open.
