@LotharHS It's clear devs don't really seem to care for ranked % and more so about comp for most decisions (baring clove)

@emsyraine This is true and a few devs at the the LoL team recognized this and even one started being more transparent about their ranked, champion buffs nerfs, smurfs etc and as you can imagine some liked this and some didn't this approach.

Unfortunately, with a huge competitive community, the pressure is ALWAYS going to be on the developers - whether or not it is public. Being more communicative leads to fingers being pointed at individuals more frequently, which is both good and bad, depending on the update & the individual. Keeping it completely anonymous just means that the game will have these stalemates where Riot is trying to figure out to do and will lead to the community getting frustrated from feeling like whatever they say will have absolutely no impact on what Riot is going to do with the game that they love.

If you are looking to be a pro in val, watch this video. This meta wouldn't be a problem if Riot were transparent about their decisions behind the nerfs & buffs, and explaining their opinions of what they want the meta to look like. If Riot want a scrappy meta where gun-play is more important, they aren't doing a good enough job at communicating that right now, which results in the community constantly needing to guess what Riot want, in turn, creating tons of toxic backlash. Riot is leading updates with no communication to the community about how long this "gunplay-heavy" meta might last, with tiny adjustments to Clove & Yoru that hint to the community that they realise the duelist meta is 'too much' - but with seemingly no direction to where they are going with these updates. Every time a map is updated, we never see a completely new 3rd site being added to a 2-site map - instead, we get a new tiny little box & a graffiti on a wall. Rarely, have we seen a major rework of different agents in this game that completely shake up the meta, unless the agent was unplayable or broken on release in comparison to other agents. There are so many passionate players, content creators, artists, coaches & more that would get on their hands & knees to provide innovative, creative and fun ideas to Riot if they were only more open to being transparent with the community, their goals and were willing to make major changes to the game. casual "limited" time modes such as 2v2 should be made permanent, there should be thought behind how map & agent identities could be changed, and more discussion on what Riot want the meta to look like. In comparison to a completely different game, Old School-Runescape, they had a massive popularity spike because they are doing their best to lead their community with open-booth polling for every single change that is made, with huge forum threads about their decisions for each update and how it could and will affect the game. It's effective because of how much the staff look to talk and address problems with their content creators & community. The popular, but early-access game, Deadlock's patches take ~20min to read because they are so long. While comparing other games will obviously have their own flaws & weaknesses, these are just examples of how not being afraid to make large changes, and by communicating with the community will attract players, generating more interest and revenue, not push them away.

@Altombre I really want to ask - How hard is it to just buff other agents so yoru/clove doesn't get picked?

Hey all - want to share some of the philosophy behind the updates to Yoru and Clove. We strive for balance that supports healthy pick diversity at all skill levels while rewarding coordinated teamplay - and currently, we believe that Clove and Yoru are too powerful overall (1/4)
