Woman Attacked At Bus Stop In Worthing. A 68 year old man has been arrested on suspicion of raping a 37 year old woman in a disturbing incident on a residential street in Worthing, West Sussex. Sussex Police were dispatched to Salvington Road yesterday evening at around 5.55pm, following reports of a sex attack. Officers quickly established a cordon around the bus stop close to the Co-op, with the area sealed off as forensic teams moved in. The suspect, a 68 year old pensioner was located and arrested shortly afterwards close nearby. He remains in custody as detectives continue their investigation. Residents have described the scene as shocking, with police tape fluttering around the bus shelter as evening shoppers walk past. The significant age gap between the alleged attacker, 68, and the victim, 37, has added to the sense of outrage in the close-knit community, where pensioners and families live side by side. Detectives are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was in the Salvington Road area between 5pm and 6.30pm on Thursday. They want to hear from people who may have seen a woman in distress near the bus stop, or who have dashcam, doorbell, or mobile phone video from the street. Officers are also interested in anyone acting suspiciously in the moments before or after the alleged attack.
