while katara loves all her children, she herself said bumi & kya were more troublemakers while tenzin was more serious back in s1
I'm not there yet on my rewatch but even aang tried to teach them *all* air nomad customs, and bumi + kya didn't want it. there's more going on.

why do you guys want katara to be miserable so badly? she was a councilor in RC (who handled waterbending specific issues like banning bloodbending) & a renowed waterbending master. AND according to their children (yes even kya) they were a happy family.

people keep calling this a retcon but the full moon is only a requirement bc you need to be extremely strong and the full moon is when a waterbender is at their strongest. it makes sense that a freakishly strong waterbender could bloodbend without it

@swan2swan87 How does the Avatar, bound to Raava (spirit of light/peace), have real agency? Is Aang good because he chooses to be - or because Raava forced him to? At least the Earth spirit allows for choice, even evil. With Raava, the Avatar is locked into goodness. That’s agency taken away.
