Economist editor @shashj shared an unsourced claim that this health center famous for its vaccine research was producing biological weapons; when this was pointed out he defended himself and then deleted it without explanation. Now that the IDF has simultaneously denied and refused to explain why it directly struck the center I hope he will clarify to his readers his own comments.
Shirin Jaafari@Shirinj

The @IDF response to my question about the attack on the Pasteur Institute: "The IDF struck a military headquarters of the Iranian terror regime in Tehran, which the regime deliberately constructed near the Pasteur Institute." My follow up: From the videos and images available, we can see that the Institute was destroyed, but not any of the surrounding buildings. Did the IDF miss or mistake its intended target? Also, there are no publicly visible military headquarters near the Institute as far as I can tell. If anyone knows of it, please share.🙏 Their response to my follow up: "We have no further comment."

They are trying to bankrupt the Park Service so they can sell the parks off to the highest bidder. This kind of cut could close smaller Monuments like Tuzigoot and Montezuma's Castle and severely harm the large parks. Communities around the parks rely on tourism.

The Trump Administration Just Announced More Plans to Gut NPS Staff As the Department of the Interior pushes employees into "visitor-facing" roles and proposes to slash $736 million from the National Park Service budget, critics warn that the scientists and stewards who keep our parks alive are once again being purged. outsideonline.com/outdoor-advent…

hi i wrote about Hasan Derangement Syndrome & the centrists who think being rude is worse than genocide. By comparing Hasan to Nick Fuentes, they want you to believe being mean to them or to Israel is the same thing as being a Nazi. They're normalizing actual bigots as a result:

The world should bookmark and remember this moment, a statement from the US Secretary of State openly acknowledging the punishment of two adult women, not for who they are or for any wrongdoing of their own, but simply because of who they are related to. This alone exposes the hypocrisy and double standards at play. It raises serious questions about how firmly the US truly stands by its stated principles on women’s rights and individual accountability
Secretary Marco Rubio@SecRubio

Until recently, Hamideh Soleimani Afshar and her daughter were green card holders living lavishly in the United States. Afshar is the niece of deceased Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani. She is also an outspoken supporter of the Iranian regime who celebrated attacks on Americans and referred to our country as the "Great Satan." This week, I terminated both Afshar and her daughter's legal status and they are now in ICE custody, pending removal from the United States. The Trump Administration will not allow our country to become a home for foreign nationals who support anti-American terrorist regimes.

Tennessee gave $65 million to Oracle to create jobs— guess we should have specified they be jobs for Americans🫤 Trump’s buddy Ellison is firing Americans and replacing them with foreign workers. (And now owns TikTok, CBS, CNN, etc) Watch oligarchy work. nationaltoday.com/us/tx/austin/n…

On March 28, U.S.-Israeli strikes targeted Iran University of Science and Technology, completely destroying its engineering college. The Department of Physics and Department of Cultural and Islamic Studies also sustained major damage. BT went to the site of the destruction a few days later and saw first responders and volunteers at work, cleaning up debris and handing out sweets and tea. University alumni were also present, whom we spoke to. The bombing of the university follows the U.S.-Israeli strike on the home of Saeed Shamaqdari, IUST’s Associate Professor of Electrical Engineering. Shamaqdari was killed, alongside his two children. According to Iranians, U.S.-Israeli attacks on universities and scientists is a way of targeting the country's development in the technical fields, which forms the basis of their defense and advanced missile program.

This site’s awash with idiots who cheerled the Iraq war, didn’t learn a thing from that fiasco, and are now squaring their idiocy by doing the same with Trump and Iran. Thought about expressing this more politely but there’s no point in euphemism. America is deservedly alone.

BANNED FILM ON AFRICAN TREASURES In 1970, Ghanaian filmmaker Nii Kwate Owoo exposed the British Museum's hidden realities in "You Hide Me." He revealed not just history but a cover-up involving thousands of African artefacts; masks, bronzes, and sacred objects, stored in underground vaults, taken during colonial conquests from regions such as the Benin and Asante kingdoms. Catalogued and numbered for academic scrutiny, they have been extensively studied, yet remain hardly seen by the public. The film does more than document; it confronts and challenges the idea that these objects are being 'preserved' when, in reality, they remain far removed from the people who created them. Just a year after its release, the film was banned in Ghana, dismissed as 'anti-British'. But the attempt to suppress it only amplified its message, and what was meant to be buried instead echoed across borders. Control of the cultural narrative has always been a central weapon in the colonial arsenal. By stealing artefacts, ancient statues, artwork, and other material heritage, the defining characteristics of a people's past, colonial powers deliberately severed colonised peoples from the sense of national cohesion and groundedness that such heritage provides. While anti-colonial struggle must certainly address material needs, shedding the shackles of colonialism also requires confronting the immaterial: the restoration of dignity, memory, and identity. As Amílcar Cabral declared: "The liberation struggle is a cultural revolution. It is not only a struggle against the colonial regime, but also against the colonialist mentality that has been imposed on our people. We must decolonise our minds." More than five decades later, the question at the heart of Owoo’s film still stands—unresolved and urgent. Why are the cultural and spiritual inheritances of Africa still held behind glass or hidden underground in institutions built on empire? @venanalysis @VoxUmmah @qiaocollective @ProgIntl @blkagendareport @OrinocoTribune @KawsachunNews

"Marj'youn officials have had warning calls from the Israeli military ordering them to turn away their Muslim neighbors fleeing the onslaught. If they're given sanctuary, the town too, faces attack". The Israelis are giving residents of these (mostly non-Shia) towns like Marj'youn an impossible choice: accept forcibly displaced Shia from neighboring areas & risk their towns being annihilated by Israel, or turn away desperate people seeking refuge from Israel's onslaught & risk being accused of collaborating w/ the Israelis & facilitating ethnic cleansing. This is, of course, part of Israel's plan: to not only facilitate ethnic cleansing of Shia from the South, but to also fracture Lebanese society along sectarian lines and turn people against one another, in an already highly polarized country. A deeply disturbing "strategy" that plumbs the depths of depravity, and one grounded in crimes against humanity.
Alex Crawford@AlexCrawfordSky

We’ve been in Marjayoun - the mainly Christian town in south Lebanon - which has been told by Israeli military not to give sanctuary to their Muslim neighbours fleeing the surrounding villages being bombed by Israeli jets. Human rights gps call it ethnic cleansing. Israel claims it’s getting rid of Hezbollah militants endangering citizens across the border. Full report on Sky News YouTube and insta
