CANADA MUST BREAK U.S. FUEL BLOCKADE ON CUBA
Cuba requires fuel and Canada has the capacity to supply it.
Despite the U.S. Supreme Court declaring the extraordinary tariffs against Cuba illegal, the fuel blockade remains in place. The executive order against Cuba continues to be enforced through pressure, coercion, and threats to third parties. At the same time, the U.S. intends to maintain military control over the traffic of vessels arriving in Cuba.
Mark Carney’s government has now announced food assistance to Cuba as part of a public relations damage-control measure. In reality, the Liberal government is standing by while every aspect of life in Cuba is affected by Washington’s illegal six-decade-long blockade.
Carney’s widely praised speech at Davos declared that it’s time for middle powers to “stop pretending” and stand up to superpower coercion. Yet, despite Canada’s amicable relationship with Cuba, Ottawa has been slow to provide aid and refuses to acknowledge the U.S. blockade as the primary cause of the island’s suffering.
Meanwhile, Canadian airlines have suspended flights to Cuba, citing fuel shortages, while carriers from other countries continue to operate.
Organizations across Canada are calling for an adequate response to oppose the U.S. blockade. A parliamentary petition urges Canada to advocate for the removal of the coercive measures on Cuba. The Canadian Union of Postal Workers has condemned Washington’s “blatant and unjustifiable assault” on the Cuban people.

Mario Silva on this delicate moment for Venezuela and the Bolivarian Revolution
“This has been the most delicate moment that the Revolution has faced.”
“We must focus on the main battle: Freeing President Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores from this hostage situation.”
“What matters now is being strategic. Perhaps that won't sit well with everyone.”
“To not [take the time to think] and to start blaming half the world; to start evaluating, making, and throwing hypotheses out there—what they're doing is harming the combatants and the revolutionaries.”
“Everyone has the right to their opinion. But when you directly attack the unity of the revolutionary struggle, that’s bad.. you are practically creating a breeding ground so that in a particular moment like this, they can attack us.”

CALLS MOUNT TO BOYCOTT FIFA WORLD CUP 2026
Calls mount for FIFA World Cup boycott amid U.S. rights abuses ⚽ 🏆
Global calls to boycott the US-hosted FIFA World Cup 2026 are increasing in response to widespread U.S. human rights violations domestically and Washington’s international crimes abroad.
FIFA awarded Trump a newly invented Peace Prize while the White House and Pentagon were planning the kidnapping of President Maduro in the U.S. terror attack on Venezuela.

CUBAN PRESIDENT: 'WORLD MUST NOW DECIDE'
Cuban president: ‘World must now decide’
President to Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel warns that the criminal fuel and energy blockade levelled against Cuba can be perpetrated against any other nation unless the world resolves to fight for solidarity and sovereignty for all people.
“This is something the international community must define.”
Following decades of a genocidal U.S. economic blockade, Washington is now denying all fuel from reaching the island, affecting the operation of food production, hospitals, and schools.

President Díaz-Canel live on the situation in Cuba, the impact of latest US measures, the support of the international community, relations with Venezuela, strategy to overcome the current crisis:
At the diplomatic and rhetorical levels, support has been received from many countries, for Cuba, “but behind those speeches there is more, things that we also cannot openly explain because the enemy is pursuing every avenue that Cuba might open up for them.” “I can assure you, with the utmost responsibility, that Cuba is not alone.”
“Right now there are people, governments, countries, institutions, and companies that are willing to work with Cuba, and that have already shared with us ways, mechanisms, and intentions of how we can do so”
“The energy persecution, the financial persecution, the intensification of the blockade with these coercive measures is such that we know we have to do a very strong, very creative, very intelligent job to overcome all these obstacles”
“Not allowing a single drop of fuel to enter our country will affect transportation, food production, tourism, children's education, and the healthcare system.”
“They are waging psychological warfare against Cuba to fracture the unity of the Cuban people and generate uncertainty,”
“I am not an idealist. I know that we are going to live through difficult times, but we will overcome them together, with creative resistance and the contribution of the majority of Cubans.”

PAN-AFRICANISTS HONOUR VENEZUELAN MARTYRS
Members of the Pan-African Socialist Alliance, a coalition of pan-African socialist and anti-imperialist groups in Kenya, visited the Venezuelan Embassy in Kenya on Monday, January 12, to express solidarity with the Venezuelan people and the Bolivarian Revolution. The delegation, led by Ahmed Kaballo, met with Moravia Peralta Hernández, Venezuela’s Ambassador to Kenya.
The activists signed a book of condolences in honour of 32 Cubans and more than 70 Venezuelans who were martyred while defending the sovereignty and integrity of the Bolivarian Revolution against U.S.-led imperial aggression.
They chanted for the freedom of President Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, and delivered a powerful message situating Venezuela’s struggle within the wider Global South resistance to imperialism, foreign intervention, sanctions, and regime-change politics.
What is unfolding in Venezuela has profound consequences for Latin America, Africa, Asia, and even Europe. Caracas is paying the price for rejecting imperial cronyism, confronting inequality driven by greed, and choosing a socialist path. It is paying the price for standing in solidarity with Cuba and Palestine, and for refusing to submit to Washington, Tel Aviv, and their colonial projects.
Any loss for Venezuela is a loss for the Global South as a whole. The visit underscored the need for Pan-African and anti-imperialist forces worldwide to remain united in defending national sovereignty and resisting all attempts to dismantle Venezuela’s independence through external pressure or intervention.
The message was clear: imperialist oppression should never feel acceptable simply because it is happening far away. If it’s Venezuela today, it could be Africa tomorrow. What is done to one nation today can be done to another tomorrow, because when a country’s sovereignty is attacked, the freedom of all is placed on the line.
