Instead renewing Harry Maguire contract or offering him a new deal. Harry Maguire should have been let go at the end of the season and replaced with Van Hacke. Jan Paul Van Hacke is 25yrs old, an experienced centerback in premier league and solid also. He plays as a RCB at Brighton. Jan Paul van Hecke is a very modern CB profile; built for high lines, aggressive pressing, and progressive football. Letting Maguire leave and getting Van Hacke would have been a smart choice.

I actually have to defend Inoes on this one. A new cb is a low priority. We need THREE new midfielders, a lw, at least one fullback and a backup striker (if Zirkzee goes) before we buy a new cb.

Maguire getting a one year contract extension makes sense for these reasons:
1. Manchester United need to focus on signing at least two solid midfielders which could cost over £130M combined
2. Spending around £50M on Van Hecke from Brighton would take a big part of the budget, especially when we also need a left winger, another midfielder, a left back, and possibly another striker
3. The club is planning to let go of Malacia, Rashford, Onana, Hojlund, Sancho, Casemiro, and maybe Ugarte and Bayindir. So where will all the money come from to replace everyone including Maguire?
And who said we cannot sign another centre back if Maguire stays? If a good opportunity comes, we can still act
We will have many games next season so Maguire’s experience and leadership will be important especially with Casemiro leaving
Heaven and Yoro will benefit from having him around. Not everything is surface level
