@otisdriftwood99 @UU_Ess_Pee There is also no actual definition of DISP on a diagram at most TOCs - the publicly owned ones via FOI confirm there's no actual rule or instruction relating to that activity - and it's word of mouth via training, but again, only through custom and practice.

@MissCatTrap @chriscollins462 A lot of heritage railways struggle at gala events with running late, I’m yet to find a heritage railway that doesn’t, that being said, strangely NVR isn’t the first railway I’ve known to cancel trains and not tell anyone. I know East Lancs did that during their recent gala.

@OllyGloverLD They know exactly what they're doing. No passenger growth targets + no rolling stock strategy = managed decline. Govt wants a high-yield, low-volume railway: fewer people paying more, not more people paying less. Nationalisation is just BR 2.0. @Heidi_Labour @SW_Help

These changes by the government are very poorly thought-through, and introduce yet more complexity and inconvenience to our already baffling and Kafkaesque rail fares system. I will be writing to the Rail Minister accordingly.

DON'T BUY TRAIN TICKETS IN ADVANCE! On 1 April, govt is quietly changing the National Rail Conditions of Travel. Off-Peak & Anytime tickets become non-refundable after 23:59 the day BEFORE you travel. If you wake up & find your event cancelled, NO REFUNDS, even on £100+ tickets.

A RMT source tells me that the DfT wants to establish the principle of DOO at the operator, so that it can be brought in with little fuss when new "DOO ready" trains are introduced in a few years time.
