@RoKhanna A 5%tax on Elon’s net worth would require him to give a portion of ownership of his companies to the federal government. He doesn’t have 5% of his net worth in cash reserves.

Brad, a 5% tax on Elon's trillion net worth would literally pay for free college and trade school for every American. And with the market's growth, he still would be worth over a trillion dollars! You don't think that's worth it?
Brad Gerstner@altcap

You are smarter than this Ro. Imagine if Bernie had taxed @elonmusk 100% on his PayPal capital gains. We would have no @Tesla or @SpaceX - none of those jobs or GDP. Who do you think allocated the capital better for society? He will already pay $100 B + in taxes - more than any human ever. I hope he donates some to kids via @TrumpAccounts to make every kid a shareholder in 🇺🇸 & continues investing all his heart, soul & money for the benefit of America & all humanity! 🇺🇸🚀🤍

USA. A hibachi restaurant. My American friends brought me here to enjoy the cuisine of my homeland, and I witnessed a ritual I have never seen in eight hundred years of being Japanese. The chef stacked onion rings into a tower. He filled it with oil. And he set it on fire. "THE VOLCANO!" my friends cheered. They knew the ritual. They had seen it many times. In Japan, I have eaten ten thousand meals. No one has ever built me a volcano. I said nothing. A guest does not question the ceremony. "Is this how they do it back home?" my friend asked, glowing with joy. "...The technique is flawless," I said. A samurai may retreat. He may not lie. He may, however, aim the truth very carefully. Then the chef flicked a shrimp through the air at my face. "Catch it!" the table roared. In my land, food is set before you with two hands and an apology for the wait. Here, the shrimp attacks. I caught it. With my mouth. The table erupted. The chef saluted me with his spatula. I have received medals with less pride. "You're a natural," the chef said. "My family has trained for this for generations," I said. It was not technically a lie. We trained. Just not for this. My friends drove me home, full and happy, honored to have shown me my own country. A man does not question the volcano. He catches the shrimp. Whatever this cuisine is, wherever it was truly born — the fire is real, the joy is real, and I caught what was thrown at me. That is Japanese enough.

@nonregemesse Many times violent people attach onto movements they think will offer them the opportunity to be violent… regardless of their belief in that movement.

You’ll see a lot of people complaining about this today but the guy who got three years had nine prior convictions and the guy who got two years and eight months had seven prior convictions including attacking his own mother.

The first people were sentenced today for the recent riot in Southampton after the video of Henry Nowak’s murder was published. A group of men was throwing wheelie bins at police officers near the local police station. Leon O'Leary was sentenced to more than 3 years in prison

@Will_Tanner_1 @HumbleFlow Can a person effectively digest one book per week? I suppose it depends on the book… There’s also a distinct possibility that I’m a midwit.

If you can read a book a week, on average, you'll be one of the top 1% of book readers in America Teddy Roosevelt found time to read pretty much every day of his life, both as a cowboy and as president Thomas Jefferson had one of the greatest libraries, if not the best library, in the United States...which he sold to the US to form the basis of the Library of Congress There's always time to read, it's finding the right things to read that counts!

Athenaeum Book Club@athenaeumbc

One of the easiest ways to stand out in 2026 is to read. The gap between readers and non-readers will be the most important divide of the next decade. While everyone worries about AI, 54% of adults can't read beyond a 6th-grade level. That's why we started an online book club to study the greatest texts of Western Civilization. Every month, we study a new great work — so far we've covered Augustine's Confessions, Dante's Inferno, The Count of Monte Cristo, Don Quixote, etc. Currently, we're reading Aristotle's Nicomachean Ethics. Western Civilization has given us the greatest books ever written, but it takes effort to read them, and even more to read them well. That’s what we’re doing here, slowly, together. If you want to support our efforts, please consider a paid subscription. It makes a huge difference to the time and resources we can dedicate to this project. Paid members get: - Live book club discussions (biweekly) - Access to our incredible community chat - Essays to guide you through the Great Books - All past recordings, essays, and podcasts - Ability to vote on what we read next... athenaeumbooks.com/welcome Welcome!

Rome fell when nobles stopped reading about their ancestors. Here are 7 biographies every man must read to avoid same fate: - Life of Sulla by Plutarch - Da Vinci by Walter Isaacson - Napoleon by Andrew Roberts - Augustus by Adrian Goldsworthy - The Confessions of St. Augustine - Alexander the Great by Philip Freeman - Morgan: American Financier by Jean Strouse What else would you add?

This is a depiction based on our geolocations of both sides of the tunnel underneath the US-MEX border below. We estimate that depending on where the tunnels were in the structures & if it was a straight line it was roughly between 575-690 meters in total length between sites.

This story is great: During the Biden admin a migrant came all the way to the U.S. from Mauritania, and was immediately allowed in by claimig he needed asylum for being gay. He moved to Indiana, married the (female) daughter of a sheriff, and got a job as a prison guard from his father-in-law. But now the Trump Admin has swooped in, pointed out that since he's not gay his asylum claim is clearly fraudulent, and has arrested him for deportation. foxnews.com/us/ice-arrests…
